NoFakie 45
Guess who was on the first gondola today! Only got up at 7:40 as well! There's a good foot of fresh higher up. It's light pow, so faceshots on every turn. Floatamundo! There were only about twenty people out for the first hour. It's still coming down on the hill. Fingers crossed for another powder breakfast tomorrow!

SnowConnection 0
Tourism Commission of Hakuba starts to operate a shuttle bus service in the evening time from 2006 Dec 22. http://www8.shinmai.co.jp/ski/2006/12/15_003654.html The bus name is "GENKI-GO" with fee 200 yen per ride. The bus ticket is sold at TCH office or Hakuba accomodations (not in the bus). It circulates 13 times a day from 17:20 thru 22:35.
NoFakie 45
村観光局によると、運行にかかる事業費は約5A 296;0万円。チケット代による収入を150万円ほど と見込み、残りを村観光局の負担とスキー場や宿 850;施設などからの協賛金で補う予定だ。 quick and nasty=[According to the tourist association, it will cost five million yen to operate the bus. They expect to recuperate one and half million in ticket sales, with the shortfall being covered by the association itself and contributions from the ski resorts AND HOTELS] Hand in pocket time lads! 22:35 is far too early for the party crowd, but 3.5 million in strategically placed free booze would probably make more sense for them! TJ OZ 0
It's a good move in the right direction. Maybe next year they will extend the times. I think they should survey the passengers so they can improve the service to what the passengers want for next year.

NoFakie 45
Tourism is a service industry, and anything that provides extra services is good. Make sure you get the word out TJ. It'll get nowhere as long as the info is only in a Japanese newspaper, especially the bloody Shinmai. Two days till it starts and its hard to find anything about it online, even in Japanese. slow 0
the shuttle bus daytime service between Goryu and Happo is still free. Genkigo runs only in the evening and it's 200yen. Am I correct?

eskimobasecamp 0
i just found a flyer for the genki go bus in the 'to be recycled paper' pile...... good job i put something important in there yesterday, went looking and found it, now i have the timetable and map. it's really great they are doing this, just a shame it didn't go on later - i can get out, i just can't get back. well if it's popular hopefully next year the service will grow. slow - yes it's 200 yen per ride. hmmm maybe i should buy some cross country skis and get home on them lol? the genki go bus (nothing to do with day shuttles, this is a new night service set up by the tourist commission of hakuba village) runs from around 5:20pm until 10:35pm. you can't buy tickets on the bus, you have to buy them from the places listed (i assume that means the various restaurant/hotels/other places it stops at)
fjef 0
As I learned yesterday in Hakuba, tickets will only be available at a few places - this is truly nuts - if you need to use the bus, you have to go where the tickets are sold to be able to ride it - they will not be available for sale in most hotels and restaurants that will make the service useful - like when you decide you want to go out. They will not sell tickets on the bus so if you see the bus and want to jump on, you're out of luck... ...can anyone post the list where tickets are going to be sold?
slow 0
Do we need to buy tickets?? Give 200yen to the bus driver and get on, that's easy. 10:35pm and time to go to home... My last train from Shibuya is 0:45am, I can drink two hours longer in Tokyo than Hakuba. However, I remember I was drinking untill 4am the last time in Hakuba in April. Three snowmen from Friday to Sunday. Thankfully my skis will be tuned. It'll be a great weekend in Hakuba. See you guys there tomorrow night. fjef, will you and Kai be in Hakuba this weekend?
