brit-gob 9
Marmite shortage leaves New Zealanders spreading themselves thin Nation told it goes further on toast after factory for local version, different from British kind, is shut by Christchurch quake New Zealanders are being urged to spread their Marmite more thinly as manufacturers warn of an imminent national shortage of the spread. Marmite production has been suspended since the closure of the Christchurch plant that produces the yeast extract spread in November last year after a tower was found to have been damaged by the earthquake. New Zealand has its own Marmite recipe and the much-loved flavour is different from the British version, which therefore would not do as a substitute. The plant, the sole source of the spread for Australia and New Zealand, was not expected to reopen until July, said Pierre van Heerden, general manager for manufacturer Sanitarium. Supermarkets were already reporting that they had run out of some sizes and remaining stocks could be exhausted within weeks, he said. Speaking to Radio New Zealand at breakfast time on Monday morning, Van Heerden encouraged Marmite eaters to temporarily minimise the amount used and to choose toast over bread. "With toast it's a little bit warmer so it spreads easier and it goes a little bit further. What we're asking consumers if maybe they could have their Marmite on toast, ration it a little bit, maybe only have it once a day or every second day," he said. But there was no need for alarm in the long term, he said. "We will get Marmite back. Consumers don't have to worry about that or freak out about it," he said.
HelperElfMissy 42
LOL Maybe if there is a Marmite shortage then the populace can try something different...like Vegemite, Peanut Butter or (heaven forbid) Nutella, they might even like it.

big-will 7
Hotel Lets Chinese People Pee in Japanese Soldiers’ Mouths Japan and China have a long, messy history. A Chinese hotel in Heilongjiang province doesn't seem to be making that any better. It is apparently sporting urinals that are supposed to be Japanese soldiers with their mouths open. For dudes to pee in.
Tubby Beaver 209
There's a pub (at least there was a pub a few years back, dunno if its still there) in Aberdeen that has Rangers players faces in the urinal. Ever since Rangers player Ian Durrant received a career threatening injury during a game between Rangers and Aberdeen in the late 80's, there has been some real bad blood between the 2 sets of fans. SKI 15
Brits are top of the game when it comes to using their cleavage to get ahead in life, a study claims. According to findings an increasing amount of females are reaping the benefits of their décolletage. In a poll of 1,000 women across the UK, one in seven admitted to wearing plunging necklines in the workplace to give their career a boost, while 8 per cent revealed that low-cut tops had helped them escape a parking fine. brit-gob 9
Six-legged Swiss calf unbowed by disability A six-legged calf has defied the odds by thriving despite a vet's prediction at birth that it wouldn't survive. Seven-week-old Lilli is now a minor celebrity in her native Switzerland after local media were splashed with images of the calf frolicking across a sunny field. Farmer Andreas Knutti from Weissenburg, which is 19 miles (30 kilometres) south of the capital Bern, says he couldn't bring himself to euthanise the animal because she was "so full of life." He told Swiss daily Blick on Thursday that a curve in her spine means Lilli may never become a normal milk cow. But Knutti says if the calf stays healthy she'll still be allowed to join the others when they head for their Alpine pastures this summer.

Simply wrap a fridge-cold Creme Egg in shop-bought puff pastry, making sure to seal the edges well, and brush the top with raw, beaten egg. Place under a hot grill for six minutes until golden brown and gooey.
