onsen tamago 0
As it starts heating up and getting less than comfortable weather.... Isn't onsen + ski just a perfect combination. Soaking in an outdoor onsen after a great day in the snow, with a beer. Perfect. I just wanted to say that.
SKI 15
Yes love it. All of my favorite ski places are also onsen places. Get that a lot in Japan.
iiyamadude 6
Absolutely. I don't really do onsen much out of winter, or at least when it's hot. But in winter it's fantastic.
snowdude 44
Always go to onsen after skiing! In winter I go to onsen a lot, a few times a week. This time of year not so much, unless its one of those cool water onsens, or at night.
joshnii 2
One of the great things I enjoy about staying over somewhere is taking it real easy and soaking a few times a day. Would always choose to stay somewhere with./close to an onsen
Tubby Beaver 209
yeah, totally agree. Its probably my most favourite "cultural" thing about Japan.
hellyer 216
I agree with you agree'ers. Onsens are hot. I have one every night when skiing in Japan. Probably couldn't get the legs working next day if I didn't Hot tubs at Oz ski fields just don't cut it
Slippery Jim 65
A beer in the rotenburo is simply the civilized way to end the ski day. (Yo, SJs, we need some kind of onsen smiley)
69 5
I almost love the onsen more than the ski. Almost.
frannyo 2
I wouldn't go that far, and I am not in the least bit interested in summer, but yeah I love a good soak after a day. With a beer in a private one as well, just great.
box of frogs 0
I can't wait to get to Japan and try it out.
JapaneseSnowBunny 0
I love onsen all year but winter is best of course. Outdoor onsen as well. I like having private one with great view. Unfortunately, it's always expensive option!
Nisekonite 0
Onsen + ski + sake
muikabochi 208
Strange, got onsen within 100m of where I live and I don't go that often. But always enjoy going probably too much when I'm away in a hotel. Should really go more often. Yosh.
moon sausage 0
I've never had an onsen.

HeatherLocklearRocks 1
Are onsen as popular in summer with Japanese people? Can't imagine wanting to get in one most of the time in summer, though very much so in winter. Wondering if generally they are more popular in the winter time of year... tokabochi 9
Found a really nice onsen about 1km from where I live, didn't know it existed until a week ago. Find!
ILoveZao 8
I go onsen most days in winter, it's great after a cold day especially when I've been skiing. Still go in summer but much less perhaps a few times a week.
winters 0
I've never had one of these onsen either, but looking forward to. Do you usually need to pay to go in them?
Mildred 0
Same here winters. I definitely want to go to a place that has good onsen and really make the most of that experience.
griller 9
In winter, I really like a very early morning sok before breakfast and getting out on the slopes. Really revs you up for the day.
SKI 15
Yes that is good. It includes a fatal flaw for me though..... Getting up early enough to do it and also fit brekkie in before wanting to get out on the snow!
OldKarl 0
Do you generally feel tired and chilled out after an onsen, or up for it and recharged?
