ILoveZao 8
Usually Zao can open for Golden Week. This year there is less snow than usual and they officially hope to be able to keep some part open until then. Sadly, personally I think that will be difficult!
ILoveZao 8
(BTW the ropeways continue operating throughout the year in Zao)
BagOfCrisps 24
ILoveZao, do they keep them all going or just part?
scouser 4
Snowed up there people? With the expressway cheap it might just be an idea....
ILoveZao 8
Yes some more snow. I think this week might be quite busy!
ILoveZao 8
No photos of recent days actully I have had cold. But I have put some photos from last season up from March, there was more snow then.
muikabochi 208
Nice ILoveZao, like the flying crow one. Hope your cold gets better, I had one last week. Means I am still catching up.
muikabochi 208
Like this one too
BagOfCrisps 24
Keep them coming in summer ILoveZao if you can - would like to see more of it that time of year.
ILoveZao 8
Some very recent photos
Hokkaidough 4
Is that top photo (of the latest) the top where those trees become monsters?
SendaiSimon 0
Great stuff. I really like Zao. The skiing is great but the whole onsen thing as well is really good. One of the highlights of the season.
2pints-mate 0
Yes it was a different experience from the other resorts we went to which - other than the courses etc - were all variations on the usual skijo. Zao is an interesting little place in quite a few ways.
ILoveZao 8
The last week has been very very warm even on mountain. Still lots of snow around but now heavy condition.
siamesetwin 0
This is one of the places I want to try next season when I visit Japan. Looks like a quite unique place. And I just LOVE onsen.
ILoveZao 8
No new photos sorry just went up there yesterday - still fair snow at the top but big patches down below. Basically the Chuo/Utopia upper slopes now open. This season spring came early I think and personally I think it will be difficult open end of GW.
SKI 15
I would think by then most people in Zao are there for "green season" stuff aren't they?
Zaoman 0
There are certainly lots of those people SKI, though still a fair few skiers getting up there and finding the snow.
smileyrider 0
Great photos. Really good place. Another of my faves.
smileyrider 0
Worth a trip in summer too I might add.
ILoveZao 8
Very late April snow! There was nearly 10cm of new snow at the top of the mountain.
69 5
Thanks for sharing ILoveZao. Looking forward to next season - got 5 days fixed up already.
ILoveZao 8
Ski season finished now, but they managed 167 days. The Zao Chuo Ropeway is open as normal but the Zao Skycable and Zao Ropeway are closed for maintenance (Skycable from 7th May - 29th May, Ropeway from 7th May - 21st May). The Zao Echoline road is now also open. It is always sad at end of season, but Zao brings us many fun things throughout year. I will post more photos from time to time.
