The few tastes of Japanese black beer I have had were awful.

Sendai is a good place Good to see your report and you liking these northern parts.

Great stuff. I really like Zao. The skiing is great but the whole onsen thing as well is really good. One of the highlights of the season.

Basic amenities, shops, medical center that sort of thing. Though I love the place as it is just based on a quick 3 days there in January. I'll be going back.

Friend of mine is moving down to that area next month, which I am very pleased about. Must take the trip looks great.

I like wearing a helmet in mid-winter. There's the safety factor as well as it really keeping my head warm, an added bonus.
