I've decided to take some time out at Christmas/New Year and go back home for 9 days or so. Anyone else making the trip back home, now that Winter has been Cancelled.

22! Wow, and I thought the 12 up the top of my road was excessive.

If I'm in a good mood, and they seem like otherwise nice normal people, I might smile and say something. It usually softens them up. But if I'm not in that nice happy mood, I'll just stare right back. Invariably they soon stop.

The "gland issue" always makes me laugh. Just one look at many people in a self-service eat-all-you-want restaurant will surely tell you why so many people are obese.

I'm sure they're not gonna pay express delivery to Japan - esp seeing as though they probably got a lot of requests from people knowing about it from this thread

I was speaking with a Japanese friend about this at the weekend. She said that there is an image prevalant in Japan that men who wear aftershave (even just a bit) are all homosexual.

My parents went on one earlier this year and really loved it. It always seems to be a "family" and "older person" thing to do to me, though that is most likely a wrong image I have.

When I go back to my hometown, my family and friends often pick me up on "Japanese-like" behavior and mannerisms that I've picked up here. You know like bowing, saying "uuuuuhhhh?", saying simple things in Japanese (like onegai shimasu to shopkeepers who look at you as if yer mad). Any other things you've embarrassed yourself with?

I seem to be bowing slightly more as time goes by - getting influenced far too much. The worst thing is going home and doing things like bowing and people just laughing in your face.

I got nearly 900 emails overnight - all from exactly the same address at exactly the same time. I was very very annoyed. I just hope this is not a new tactic by the spamming idiots. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
