For those living in ski towns - what are the conditions like now?

Recommended Posts

My in-laws asked me just now "Are you going out there some more?"

For them the season isn't finished yet. Perhaps 2 more months.

Resorts closed doesn't mean it's over. Good snow over 2000m.

I'm prepared to walk a couple of hours.

I didn't say it was.

And anyhow, resorts closed does mean it's over for I would guess the big majority of people.

Even if the resort is open generally conditions are much better in the backcountry anyway. April through May has some great backcountry riding up this way.

Surprise surprise here in UT...

A late spring storm dumped 74 cm of fresh fresh snow for me to jump into tomorrow. Can't wait to see what goes down with today none of the resorts opening for skiing at all! Should be a fun day. Thankfully winter finally hit.

Yesterday was just a glorious day to get into the back country. Not a breath of wind. Afterwards a BBQ and a few beers on the balcony sitting around in tshirts. Spring skiing is here.

It has been here for weeks.

A friend of mine in Gunma who has a farm is wishing the snow away now!

He has interests n the winter being good too, so it's always a funny contrast.

I was up at Nakayama Toge Sunday. There was still plenty of snow there.

The conditions were good in the AM but started getting a bit slushy in the PM. None the less we all had a good time.
