  1. When I was at University there was a group that I joined that trained us as instructors and gave us a free season's pass if we agreed to instruct on the weekends for 8 weekends. It was a cool group of people, otherwise it really woudn't have been all that worth it.
  2. That's funny, I hear plenty of girls have gotten VD from you db...

  4. ahhhhh. Well I'll be. That explains it... he's an Aussie. Just kidding guys.
  5. I'm sure you had no trouble finding the pow this weekend. It was dumping when I left Saturday morning. As for renting guides, Yes!! you can. Luke Hanson runs a Powder Seekers service. Luke is mountain resource scientist, former ski patroller, and super nice guy that has been coming to Niseko since 1998. He definitely knows his way around and will take you out for a great day of powder. You can call him at 090-3893-5088. Here is the website http://powderprogram.com and his email is luke@powderprogram.com. Luke also offers a Powder Safety avalanche safety course which I took
  6. Barok - what's the prognosis man? Can you perscribe yourself some painkillers yet? I am ecstatic with the fact that I rode 25 days without missing a day due to any kind of injury! Now I am gonna knock on some wood and hope my luck continues in Colorado next month.
  7. I heard you had a little run in with the law buddy. Are you not allowed back, or just last warning kinda thing?
  8. The beat genertion is characterized best by Jack Keruac's "On The Road" and Tom Wolfe's "The Electric Kool-aid Acid Test."
  9. Hey woywoy - Niseko was outta control. What a fun place to ride and to hang out. Had I spent much time there last year I might have tried to do the whole season there this year instead of just 3 1/2 weeks. Had a great time riding with lots of cool people including forum members Snowboard_Freak, Mikazooki, Goemon, Talisker and a beer with Dims. I rode every day I was there which is really easy to do when you are a 10 minute walk from the gondola and can snowboard right up to the door on the way back. I highly recommend that anyone going up that way contact Niseko Powder Connection . They
  10. Good thread - always an interesting subject. After just spending a month in Niseko I was shocked at the number of gaijin that town supports. This is really different than Honshu folks. Unlike the Japan based gaijin you find in Hakuba or Yuzawa, these are mainly tourists. Aussies coming up for 2 weeks or sometimes less, specifically to ski and snowboard. And Niseko caters to them without batting an eye. There are English course maps, English signs, English menus at all the restaurants, that little genki girl on Hana-1 that says "thank you" when a gaijin gets off the lift. After being
  11. I'm sure the weekend was great as well (even without me being there) but up until Fri. Strawberries, Miharashi, and Hana3 were rippin. So was Tetsu's and the waterfall for that matter.
  12. I love my Vans Fargo BOAs. If I crank them down I can go through the day without much in the way of adjustment. They are the right amount of stiffness and fit quite well. After 30 days they are still in near perfect shape (a little cut up on my back foot from resting my board though). I have ridden Salomon Malamutes in the past and rec those as well. Basically it just comes down to fit and desired stiffness. Northwave boots don't fit my feet very well but I have heard good things about them as well.
  13. Nice video db. Geeze, you could have at least taken some quality footage of me snowboarding. Who has that great clip I shot of barok destroying himself at the Iimori jump last year? Dane? Fattwins? Barok? You gotta post that one.
  14. You are thinking of Mochi-Ice manda (what is with everyone changing their names? I blame db). Strawberry Mochi-Ice is the best. My favorite ice cream is the grape soft serve they have in Kyoto. I actually did find it once in Tokyo (Tokyo Stn) but it isn't as good. The ice cream must be the top seller at Seico mart in Niseko. I don't think the cold dissuades anyone.
  15. I leg bounce. It seems to annoy Japanese girls more than Western girls. Why is that?
  16. Yo Y's P - got the Central Park DVD playin in the background right now. Whatta great show. I saw Jane's over the summer. Was never a big fan before but I was really impressed and have since grabbed most of their albums. I dig em now. I haven't had too much new music in the last few weeks but I've been listenin to a lot of Something Corporate, Mars Volta, All American Rejects, and Get Up Kids. New NIN?? Bring it on!!
  17. Didn't you know that everyone on Russian subs speaks English with a Russian accent??
  18. I am all about skate shoes. If a girl isn't into that then I ain't into her. I am planning to move to Cali this summer and I imagine there will be a lot of sandal wearing going on. I still have a slight sandal tan from SE Asia in November!
  19. I worry more about lugging my bags across Tokyo than anything else. I cannot understand at all how people can worry about terrorists. You have any idea how many flight aren't hijacked on a daily basis?
  20. I flew round trip to America in Dec for around 40,000 and will be flying there at the end of this month for around 50,000. Everytime I have flown round trip from America to Japan (Mar, Jan, Oct) it has cost me over $600US.
  21. I very rarely grab snacks on my way into the cinema. Eating and drinking just don't go with watching flix on the big screen for me. On occasion we would smuggle in beer or flasks when it was a group of friends goin to some action movie or someting. In Japan you can just buy a brew from the concession stand.
  22. I think he is just reminding you that Valentine's Day is comin. Maybe I'll actually get something this year.
