  1. Yeah I had never heard seppo or at least never knew what it meant. Heres some more that I remember hearing in NZ. kraut - German frog - France nagi - Indian fob - a pacific islander (v.careful where you use this one though) But I would be pretty careful when I said all of these. I dont think any of it is derogatory really but it does depend how its used and how well you know the person. Its like the word gaijin, it depends how you say it, there are nice, innocent ways and derogratory ways. totally off the topic. I like the word antipodes. But nothing against d
  2. jeez cant you take a joke?! Penis on my brain indeed Kamo. Im not that kinda girl Its suikas all the way. Suika are tasty and nutricious and fun for all the family...
  3. I was good at English and also physics and chemistry. In fact I even got as close as filling out the application for engineering school but changed my mind and never posted it! Oh what a different life I might have lead.
  4. Yo who was bashing the Pet Shop Boys? I was round at a friends house last night, maxing out on the verrandah watching the sun set with some funky tunes playing and suddenly realised that it was the Pet Shop Boys and it was good! Dunno how theyd be live in concert but I burnt the CD before I went home
  5. I think so, I mean youve got to be developing something. Its like those magic eye things, the first time it takes ages and ages to see the thing and then your eyes get trained and you can pick it out easy. Gotta be like that. I reckon reaction times have got to be improved (good for driving and other things) and that even simple stuff like frogger helps you (dodging people on the ski field). And strategy games are good (remember lemmings and you had to sort stuff out) putting pieces of clues together (where in the world is carmen sandiego) etc As you can see I dont play computer games muc
  6. I usually take a deep breath, smile to myself and say "Yeah, I can do this" and just believe it and dont think too much about the consequences. Having said that I am shit at freestyle, mainly because you cant get me out of the trees! Maybe this sthn hemisphere season
  7. What do you do when its all sugary crap that doesnt hold together. You know the stuff that is basically round frozen ice, like in kakigori (that shaved ice with syrup)? I have been wondering about that. Yah I do the skis and/or boards standing up to make the edge then pile up snow behiend it. I havent made a hulluva lot in my life though hence the kakigori question
  8. Those engergy "genki" drinks are great but better watch them. Theyve got LOOOOOOADS of caffine, nicotine and other stuff that gives me the shakes when I drink them. I wouldnt want to mix them with anything either! They taste so medicinal
  9. Oh no you found out! Youre going to be the new meat in town though seriously. Dont hold your breath about the car. I dont know anyone that got given a car from their BOE (there are rumours though) but you can pick up one cheap but many people arent allowed to drive to work. Go figure.
  10. If youre under 25 its super costy. I pay 80,000 a year for mine, and thats only 3rd party. I did my homework and it was the cheapest around.
  11. Im pretty sure its the drivers fault. Thats why insurance is so expensive and so necessary

Any JETs out there that have any idea what this job entails. They will not tell me at this moment. Hey, good stuff. There are some really cool JETs in Gifu, youre in for a good year or more. Its really pretty there too, just hope youre in the northern part so its easier to get to Nagano heh heh. Sounds like youll be employed at a high school. Either youll be a one-shot, going round differnt schools
  13. At my high school in NZ (you start when you are 13) you didnt have to learn a language, it was one of a whole host of electives. We had German, Japanese, French, Maori, Spanish and Samoan if I remember right. Hardly anyone in NZ can speak another language, in fact when I think about it, teachers aside I dont know anyone that would be "fluent" (maybe I know the wrong people). I have to admit that speaking English makes you lazy, wherever you go chances are that people speak English, more so than another language. I am glad that I learnt Japanese rather than one of the other options, altho
  14. I dont really get homesick anymore. dont get me wrong Im really looking forward to going back and life being less complicated and things simpler than here, but I kind of think of it more as a holiday destination now. Go stay at Hotel Mum and Dad for a while, drive their car, eat their food, the laundry gets done... What I miss more is my family and my sis (Im a twin). She doesnt live in NZ and every now and again I get twinges when I want to jump on a plane and chill with her.
  15. The dondonpa at FujiQ was awesome, I can honestly not think of anything to compare it to. I mean you go from 0 to 170km/h in under 2 seconds... That one in Ohio looks great. My American geography sucks though, gonna have to get out a map to suss it out.

Ummm hate to break it you ya but you ARE somewhere in the middle of Asia btw nice to meet you on Saturday night. Next time Im in town will drop you a line beforehand. Might not be so stressed next time!
  17. Damn shame Mikazooki, we could have had something beautiful. " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" />
  18. Fresh back from Sri Lanka the land of gems and a few interesting gem related experiences. We looked at lots and lots of different sizes, values and colours I think you really can tell the difference between cheap and not cheap. It sounds cheesy but when you put a jewel worth 200 pounds next to one that is 100 pounds you can see the difference. Put that next to a cheapo one and it is glaringly obvious. All your lady has to do is put her hand next to her buddies and youll be able to see the difference. Cliche but more expensive just looks much better, richer, brighter, deeper....
  19. So Steeno mate (and other teles), what is so great about tele that you cant do on skis, apart from walking uphill on? Ive got a gammy knee and looking at the teles Ive seen on the slopes, although it looks super cool it does look like youd need a lot more leg and knee control. Eg lunges hurt me so is tele like lunging down the slope (as you can tell I know nothing). And cross country sucks so why would I want to do more of it?! Just wondering. And what made you get into tele in the first place. Im guessing you were a skier first.
  20. Much to my surprise I found a grilled chicken on rye bread the other day in tokyo near the bus stop and despite my reservations about Japanese sandwiches it was really really nice! It didnt have hardly any gloopy sauce and it filled me up. Agreed there Danz, why dont the keep the pizzaman for summer? Perfect booze food. I was thinking they should have little packs of shumai too. That is good munchies food.

  22. Bowler and I are going to Mongolia! Then Im back to NZ and the ski season. Yep a good couple o months to look forward to
  23. I cant believe Slow said Japanese food isnt fattening! Seriously, food is deep fried in everthing, oil dressings galore and lets not even get into the red meat vs white fat ratio of meat here. Oh for a lean slice of lamb! I think there are very very few healthy alternatives in Japan, bentos have fried everything and at the konbini there is little snack-wise to fill you up apart from onigiri and nikuman (the latter which is pretty greasy). Im going to get shot down for this but I dont really like Japanese food either, it tastes bland and is either shoyu/sugar flavour or miso. N
