Ill try to get some pics up a bit later. my camera didnt work again but jers camera did.

I got this line on a spine that put me into a great straightline hole-shot out. Jer was on form this weekend ripping like usual. cb you shouldve come the snow was light and deep and biglines were thrown down on both days.

The Arac course cause a pretty big slide near tsugaike so i imagine that certain areas of tsugaike are pretty loaded.

good mate. mainly spring groomers but you get a good front in occassionaly...just like anywhere else. We had sick powder last year in Haks at the end of March/and in April. There was even that freak storm in May which produced 2-3 days of deep powder - also lead to many deaths too. you know my niseko motto... ;\)

THE PARTY/SNOW HAKUBA REPORT - the loooooong weekender

day one

i called work on thursday night after driving through a blizzard home - HAD to ski on friday (except they thought i was going to do x-rays at a hospital) - anyway, rode at happo on friday with my mates from home - this is one of them ( http://www.ellis-brigham.com/lorna-carmichael.htm ), matt from morino and mitch from snowbeds. we ripped fresh all day, grat quad face beautiful and untracked, avi barriers being the deepest, kurobishi ridge bumps and jumps, and 'the face' was the most fun. at the end of the day we went off the north faces - very fresh snow, wasn't convinced about the stability of the snow pack at all - abandoned hiking back up to jump the remains of a kicker after 2 hits and just went down - and i've finally had enough of bushes (yes FT, no more) the first section ends with so many bushes, which i can get through pretty fast (my bush whacking skills are first rate just now) - but NO MORE of this.

then the drinking began - amazing food and all you can drink at mangetsudo, on to master braster, things start to get blurry, move on to q'tips, remembering dancing and not much else......... until 6am.....

day 2

consequently stay in bed until 5pm saturday........... get up and head out again, 902 bar.... then a big party at naughty with wicked djs and sk8 boys everywhere (score!).... it's dumping outside, so we make a move.

day 3

whilst happo was windblown with shut lifts, and FT got into some gnarly backcountry first decents and all that jazz, my crew headed over to cortina and demolished it. steeeeeeeeep, pretty damn deeeep, utterly untracked, beautiful. not a single person skied where we were skiing, we had the whole thing to ourselves and we just did lap after lap after lap. with one hour to go, and patrol nowhere in sight we decided to take liberties and ski anywhere and everywhere, some of the best skiing i've done in a while - people on the lifts couldn't believe us as we ripped it. a seriously almost epic, actually definitely epic sunday session in the snow with friends

how many did ya score with? ;\) :p :p
yeh well a bit of sk8 history turned up on the ramp last weekend, didn't expect that - i shouldn't go to places where boys wear wifebeaters and sk8 ;\)

you can ask me that question on the weekend, and i'll tell u a funny story lol

sk8 history? ha ha ha!

i didn't peg you as that type! i thought you would veer more for the well-groomed and mustachioed pro skier dudes.

and EBC, the term "wifebeater" is not very feminist. we call them "spousal behavior-correctional apparel" in these parts.

next time i'm in Hakuba, i'd like to go back to Naughty on a slow night and practice my shit-eating techniques on that ramp.

ha ha ha ha! we need to spend some more time together oyuki, preferably at the skate ramp, you can skate and i can ummmmmmm.... leer?

and i'm looking for a well-groomed (perhaps not mustachioed) pro skier dude, but i can't find one. snowboarders and sk8rs aren't working out so well.

and dude whatever you want to call them... buffed arms, buffed arms, buffed arms... it was puking outside, and i couldn't quite pull myself away from the side of the sk8 ramp, bad bad bad, very very bad.

Right on, i'm down. that last night i was there, there was a very hot sk8er girl who spoke pretty good English seshing it up.

However, if i go back its without the tighty-whitey. i have the chiseled physique of a crack-addict.

And tomorrow i get to baby-sit my 7th graders as we go on a trip to Sugadaira overnight! As a reward, i get Thursday off from school, and i am extending my vacation into a 5-day weekend with a day of nenkyu.

Who knows, maybe i will head up that way. Do you have room for me to crash at your place? Or are your friends still visiting?

sir jibalot:

twin vs jussi

jussi has a better base ie goes faster etc

might have a bit of a setback in the stance

not a true twin tip - tail is stiff i think (which i personally like for ollies)

twin is a true twin tip so nose & tail are the same stiffness.

seems to be that if you want a mainly park board then save money and go for the twin, or if you want a better quality board that can handle more situations go for the jussi. both are real fun boards for a jibber
