I am not sure how long Papa is going for the Rugby but it wont be too much more than that. We did a weekender in Thredbo last weekend and when you factor in airport waiting times etc the few extra hours it takes to get to Tokyo (and an overnight flight - yes!) makes it not that much different. We justified the weekender because we already had season lift passes and national park entry pass, reducing our costs....so if we WON a weekend in Hakuba I am sure we could justify the airfare to get to Tokyo to use it.
