frannyo 2
OK so lots of people on here seem to like bc and anywhere but the main courses at a resort, but is there anyone left that actually likes them? Do the hardcore bd guys and gals ever use them, or is it just something you don't do?
mogski 0
Yeah I use them. Only to access lifts and entry points for the off-course stuff
montoya 0
sure, if there's some powder to play with we'll hit stuff on-piste. but it never lasts long... do you like groomed courses? I usually get bored after a run or two.
fukdane 2
I like groomed courses yeah. They'll do me for quite a while, esp if there's not many people around.
scouser 4
I look much better on the courses than walloping about like a beginner in deep snow. Not that I don't try.
SerreChe 2
I love powder as well as groomed ones especially if they're really really steep (not too much of that in japan).
IIIII 2
How do you usually make the move over from the groomed to the powder. If there's too much I just get drowned in it. Any recommendations?
Dougy 0
The "Backcountry" here in my opnion is a total waste of time, it's just not worth the effort. From what I've seen most people's idea of off-piste is poaching lines under a lift just off the groomers. If you want real backcountry save some cash and go to Canada. klingon 10
That may be so, it's just a bit more of a journey than going to Niigata/Nagano.
damian 0
I find resort groomer riding to be boring, particularly on a regular snowboard. If I lived in a snow town I would get a carve board for resort days, or perhaps spend that time learning how to ski again. ps - This thread appears to be well patronised by some long time members. I was shocked to see that SerreChe has been in in since 2000 yet so few posts.
grungy-gonads 54
I will have to comment then. I like both. I just like snow and being out there.
SerreChe 2
Yes 34, you are right not too many posts from me, I admit to it. I only tend to log-in late in the evening and only have the strength to put up a few posts before I fall asleep n start drooling all over my keyboard. Other long time members have a few thousand posts... Impressive. 'Bless them. I also plead guilty to the fact that I have never hooked-up with other forum members on the slopes... Btw, I am sure your Chamonix trip be be excellent!
SerreChe 2
By the way, as for grommed slopes, I always take both my skis and board with me. If powder is greeting me in the morning I tend to take the board, if it is hard-packed / icy, then out come the skis.
Yuki's Passion 1
groomers are nice for keeping mainstream skiers and boarders from eating my powder
mattlucas 0
Groomed slopes are BOOOOOORRRRRRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG Only good for getting into and out of the trees.
gamera 0
Hahaha I thought the same when I was young but now I feel groomed slopes are good for me. No damage to my old waists and knees
its-a-clock 0
I kinda like groomed courses that have been untouched - especially on fairly steep slopes. No people around, smooth speed. SOunds good to me.
sunrise 0
Gamera - you have to try skiing with the new skis - you might change your mind with a pair of fatties.
Yuki's Passion 1
sunrise, too bad you couldnt come out this past weekend. Hope to see you on the slopes again!!
gamera 0
Sunrise - fatties? My skis are enough fat though but humm... maybe not enuff compared with me
sunrise 0
Yeh, Yama, I'm missing it, but I'm on a mission right now.... who knows when I'll get back out there (hopefully soon). Gamera, you'll have to get Fats to show you how to use your fatties - poweder skiiing should be easier on your knees than the piste. (well, depends on what kind you do, I guess). rach 1
I like both, still not good enough to be hitting too deep areas. It's all fun though, I just don't like crowds.
peaker 0
Carving on piste with an alpine set up rocks. I just got a new pair of de luxe Le Mans hard boots for carving. If only it would stop snowing everyday in hokkaido Id be riding my carving board on piste more. Powder is fun but you have to admit it slows you down.
sakebomb 0
I enjoy both depends on the day. A little cautious after a little adventure in a B/C blizzard last season!
