big-will 7
How would you improve it gg?
grungy-gonads 54
I was thinking about that last night big-will. The changes I think will happen for the next version will likely be. This is based on me having next to no technical knowhow, of course. Higher res screen. The screen is beautiful as it is, but it would be incredible with more dots and being sharper still. They are doing that with the new iphone, ipad next? Camera. Doesn't bother me this one, don't need/want one, but I can see how people want it. Thinner. It's not huge but I would expect the next one to be thinner. Auto-brightness. Somehow seems a bit iffy and I have read lots of similar experiences. Flash. Oops, maybe not. They really need to sort ibookstore in Japan out. It's a joke at the moment. But thats not a hardware thing anyway is it. I'm sure there's tons of things I can't think of, it's pretty groovy if you ask me.
big-will 7
The Sun app has a page 3! Quote: Ok, so what’s this? Porn on the iPad?! Well, not quite. The Sun newspaper is well known for retaining this throw-back tradition from the 1970s, but somehow, somehow, they’ve managed to get their infamous “Page 3 Girl†into the new iPad edition of the newspaper, despite Steve’s war on porn. Users will be charged £4.99 for the initial app download (it comes with the first month free, iTunes link), and then a £4.99 subscription every 28 days. It’s all part of Rupert “King Canute†Murdoch’s attempt to keep the sea of free content at bay. Don't look kids, shocking adult-only content: Click to reveal..

pie-eater 207
If it had usb ports, you'd be able to lots of naughty non-apple stuff. So that's naughty.
thursday 1
nah... that's a zillion times exaggerated. But I will get the Iphone 4G and the Ipad though. I have set aside spending money for that.

It's a nice bit of kit but its limited compared to a real computer. A lot of the limitations are in the software, not the physical circuits. The only reason they've limited it is to force users to buy things from the App Store or Itunes. If you could run a a normal computer's OS on it just with drivers for the multitouch, it would be more useful. Depending on what you want to do, potentially much more useful. grungy-gonads 54
This might sound strange, but I think thats part of the appeal. I don't want to have Windows or some other complex system on it. I actually really like it for it's simplicity. Turn it on, browsing within 2 seconds. Playing a game within 2 seconds. Writing simple documents, ahem, within documents. If I want to do more stuff I can still turn my computer on. I suppose I can see that some people might want to, but those people will also have a computer on hand surely. grungy-gonads 54
I thought I'd just update this, had it a few weeks now. Still loving it, it has replaced my notebook that I used to have pretty much always on in my home. Great to be able to lie down on the sofa surfing and reading. I'm enjoying the times app still - reading much more than I did when it was just on the website, due to the different circumstances - but can't shrug the feeling it's too expensive. And I'm real stubborn when I think things are overpriced. So I don't know I'll renew that unless it changes. Still very glad I got it though and looking forward to getting my NTT mobile wifi thingy. BeerTengoku 35
And automatically paid?
grungy-gonads 54
No, extended until 23rd July. Looking back it is strangely worded, I'm not sure if I had turned it on in 4 days time if I would have been extended to 27th July and been able to get the back 4 issues as well..... whatever, got an extra 10 days or so, so I'm not complaining.
