grungy-gonads 54
That sounds like something you might get after the ipad. How much do these things go for? Can't say it sounds appealing to me.
@tokyo 14
Not got onto the Bluray thing at all. Is it worth it? Anyone here watch Bluray?
NoFakie 45
Not me. Not got a PS3 and not buying a separate player. If you're buying or building a computer though, its only few thousand yen extra compared to a DVD player. Might as well see what your telly can do. I watch footie on Sopcast etc. so low quality is fine by me if its something I want to see. And don't want to pay for....
grungy-gonads 54
Watching footie on sopcast would drive me nuts. If that is my limited experience of it is anything to go by - terrible quality, have to actually find it, suddenly cut off etc.
thursday 1
my luverly case arrived from Taobao. (<--- dun worry, that's a massive online shopping site) It's just luverly.
cheeseman 1
Is there any good ipad cheese content?
muikabochi 208
I just use the apple one but most of the time none. No scratches. GearedHD is a freebie at the moment and a bit of fun

Tubby Beaver 209
right, I haven't really read this thread that often, so forgive me the stupd question......but what exactly is the diff between this and a regular computer? What is the purpose of people buying this product? I know nothing about it so I'm not taking the piss
grungy-gonads 54
It's actually quote hard to explain TB. My best advice is - get hold of one and do some caressing to get an idea. It's......fun, slick, fast, small, elegant, light, small, but big, self-contained, mouse less, touchy, sexy, swishy, instant startuppy..... I used to have a small laptop on my desk at home. That is gone now and I just pick up the pad when I want to do 'stuff', sitting on the sofa, lying in bed with a coffee. The one thing people who first see it often say is something along the lines of wow! It's just so much more easy and fun to use than a laptop, for the things that it does. Unless they have some stange hatred of it because apple make it etc. It doesn't do away with a work computer, of course, but I think it's brill.
thursday 1
TB, think of it as an 18 year old single malt. Nobody needs it, but sure a hell we'll order it if it was available.
grungy-gonads 54
I don't drink malt, but I know what you mean.
RobBright 35
Have you seen the new iPod touch 4g? Damn am tempted by that!
Thundercat 60
That new ipod touch does look pretty awesome. The new shuffle looks really slick now too... not into it myself but with it's new touch screen I think Apple has decided to take it in a whole new direction.
klingon 10
BM, don't you mean the Nano? It's the Nano that has shrunk down and got that touch screen rather than the shuffle. They are now quite similar, perhaps the days of the shuffle are nearly over.
Thundercat 60
yep, you are right... i thought it was the shuffle but they just look the same size now. whoops!
grungy-gonads 54
Wait until ipad 2 gets that hi-hi-res screen. That will truly sparkle.
RobBright 35
Will it comes with flash too?
grungy-gonads 54
Haha. yeah. That really is the most annoying/bad thing about the ipad. It's really quite annoying when you go to sites and you just get the blank out.
RobBright 35
bet you're glad the SJ forums don't have flash embedded in them then.
grungy-gonads 54
Yeah. The main site has that top left bit that is flash I think, but that seems to be replaced by a static image when no flash available. Very kind. But seriously, some sites made in Flash simply don't show up at all. And lots do use it. Blocking it seems petty and silly to the end user. I'm sure some flash-run web owners are rather annoyed by it too.
RobBright 35
I guess they never will, due to controlling issues. If they let flash through, then why would you buy tv shows, or movies, from he iTunes store ever again?
JA2340 16
Now, now, Rob. That's being petty and ... Ahhh! I agree wif ya!
pie-eater 207
Since when has the matter of many millions of dollars, perhaps even billions into the future, been "petty"?
