kamemushi are stink bugs. Stand on them and they make a nasty 'green' smell. But do not hate them too much. Although they cannot be eaten as tsukudani, a lot of stink bugs in the autumn is a sign of abundant snow in the winter (this is tsuru). Bring on the stink bugs!

You get stink bugs in England too, but not so many.

And yes, there are plenty of long-leggedy flying beasties here - praying mantises, stag beetles, giant moths, orange hornets the size of your thumb, big Jackson Pollock decorated spiders, and ugly millipedes that bite.

But they'll all die soon when it snows :p

The very same. Not for nothing are they classified as Pentatomidae. Also known as 'kusamushi'.

Having once been stung in the bum by a wasp that got into my boxers hanging up outside, one morning I once savagely beat the crap out of something that was moving inside my trouser leg in case it was another damn wasp. But the smell that instantly wafted up soon told me that it was a member of the Pentatomidae that had found its way into my trousers. Ah, kusa!

And echineko has problems just seeing one of these things?!
