As Go Native said not many. Lots of people have fans. An aircon would have been good this summer thats for sure.

Good movies you've seen recently

Thought it was good, saw it in Sapporo. I understood it, so I'm clever too. -
Hey it's Engerland tonight! Anyone going to boo!? And I think Scotland and even Wales are playing as well somewhere.

Never seen those in the shops, need to find some. -
Yes it has been hot and not very comfortable. Some people will no doubt be wondering whether to get aircons or not.

Things to do in Sahoro
Nisoko replied to thursday's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I don't think there's much there other than the hill and resort as Jim said. -

The Omen. The original with Gregory Peck. Must have seen it 10 times but I was flicking through the channels the other night and it had just started.... ended up watching the whole thing again! Love it. -
The snow at Niseko and Rusutsu
Nisoko replied to brit-gob's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I'm sure I won't be alone in saying that I have experienced better snow at Rusutsu than Niseko. Very fine at both of course. -

Remarkables is a great name. Hope it goes well down there. -
Frankly, I would beware of putting too much into the "oh it's all booked up" scary stories. Don't get panicing. Your first choice of place might get booked up, but there is plenty out there for most periods out of the peak time - and there will be close and into season too. It's one tactic that some companies try to get people into booking and committing early. Not accusing anyone on here doing that, but it certainly happens.

Niseko 10/11
Nisoko replied to sand's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Business plan for potential Niseko owners: Only open up bookings in December, charge a real premium , get all the people who haven't been able to find anything decent who just need to get here and will pay. -
Back to Niseko after 8 years

I suppose there's a lot of luck involved in who you get to interact with. Having said that, the guys at Tourism Associations and places that deal with tourists for their job should really be of the friendly disposition. -

Do many Aussies take the canoe/dinghy over to NZ - and vice versa - to enjoy the goodies in each others country? -
Season updates
Nisoko replied to gerard's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Not really. Ask 10 different people and you'll get 10 different answers. The resorts hardly give accurate official snow depth numbers throughout the season anyway. Everyone is taking a guess basically. -

On the subject of Switzerland, a bit off topic but - anyone else find that people there generally weren't particularly helpful/friendly anyway? I feel in Japan people are generally very polite and friendly - exceptions of course - but in Switzerland we were a bit put off with some attitude we got. Perhaps it was all exceptions too, but it was the general impression we got. -
Hakodate to Niseko

Sounds right. Be careful with the speeding. Annoying as it is, having to pay the speeding bill is more so! -

GN, perhaps you can help me I'm trying to remember which was the biggest year in recent ones. Was it 05/06?
