  1. I'm going either there or Jokoku tomorrow if it isn't blizzarding and will report.
  2. They should open up the ones they can for free, with added free kare-raisu as a "sorry".
  3. If you get a shinkansen from Tokyo to Yuzawa on a weekday in the daytime, you will almost always get a seat and sometimes they are very uncrowded. Evenings/night and weekends can get very crowded.
  4. It was just getting started as well....
  5. Next time I will be sure to fall out of my bed to avoid an injury. (Not that there will be a next time here of course).
  6. Had a roof collapse in my neighbourhood last night. Made a right noise, sounded like an earthquake. Got to admit, I'm getting tired of moving snow and I want to see the sun.
  7. Me too. Anyhow it's delish here anyway. I'd like to try water from other places to compare.
  8. rahul - any idea on when it might stop snowing here? I'm afraid my house is going to collapse if much more falls.
  9. Everyone will have their own best. I think Iwappara is ok (and probably one of the best places out there for beginners) but not a huge amount of challenge there - the top is good fun though. You can pretty much see it from the pics that ssam posted. Bigger places are Kagura/Naeba. Check out the reviews and journals and stuff on the site, there is already a ton of info on here.
  10. 9 - 9 Any earlier I'm not in the mood to speak.
  11. There's almost none of that kind of thing on these forums mate - what you posted above is probably the first I've actually seen and I'm on here most days.
  12. Try some of these places to stay http://www.snowjapan.com/e/hotel/index-niigata.html Garden cress and Pit inn are both actually ON (within) Iwappara.
  13. Trains are messy. I think local lines is get the Iiyama line to Tokamachi then get Hokuhoku line to Yuzawa. Or better get a friend to drive: From Nagano > past Nozawa > through Tsunan > Route 353 over to Ishiuchi > Yuzawa. Probably about 2 hours maybe a bit more.
  14. Views from the top there are really good - you can see my house (well, where my house is) as well looking over the other side towards Muikamachi.
  15. I don't suppose there's much business in new lifts these days.
  16. Some of them changed here some not. Good use of money. Oh yes, and it's still snowing.
  17. I hope you complained. I have once or twice. sometimes they have it cranked up to the point where it is just totally distorted. Hard for me to understand the need for music in the first place.
  18. Nice pics snowboard-sam - it really was a beautiful day today.... hard to believe after yesterday!
  19. Quote: That was one of my all time favourite posts. I missed that.... any chance you can find it and share?
  20. You would think I had better things to do than be messing about online on "ibu". Not keen on another day in a blizzard though, so I'm gonna chill.
