  1. Also what part of environmental science are you looking to do? If your field is conservation, biodiversity or environmental impact there may be a few people i can put you in touch with.
  2. best thing about summer in japan......these buggers!! Despite the work they bring!
  3. Another reason to respect nature more!! Not sure on all the ways he went about things but was a great conservationist when it came to passion and ferver and the foundation he founded contributes a lot to different projects around the world. Friend of mine got stung by a ray once after accidentaly stepping on it, apparently hurt like hell, but after putting it in really really hot water countered the poison really quickly.
  4. Chiba boys, Chiba!! Bring it on!
  5. No one knows yet why its dropped. Its been the same at all nesting beaches. Working now to trya nd find out. The guy I work with has his own theory that there will be a big earthquake this year, I think it might have something to do with a combination in mercury levels rising in waters, and storms out at sea and increased fishing off of Shikoku. Also could be part of the natural cycle. Lots of Q`s!!!
  6. Spent the while summer in Wakayama with a beach full of logger head turtles. Not so exotic but diving and beach work everyday makes up for it!! However dissapointed about the decline in nesting females this year, abotu 50% down form last year.
  7. if need be you can always just start selling overpriced surfboards to the Japanese!!!
  8. Been spending pretty much every night of this month being a killjoy here stopping people letting off fireworks. Turlte nesting time again which means no sleep at night and plenty of boos and hisses from budding pirotechnicians!! Turtle appreciate it though!!
  9. Went to FujiQ last year and by far the best thing in there was the haunted house!! Was really cool, old chinese hospital thing that you walk around in and choose your own route. They have actors in there and it`s really well designed, you end up getting really lost and walking around for what seems like ages. Not saying I screamed like a girl or anything but there were some pretty scary parts!! You don`t know where the exit is so you end up running out of the thing shouting with all the people who are in the line waiting to get in laughing at you!! Good fun!
  10. unfortunately a friend of mine was put in a detention center (same one as Horie) a couple of years back for a a HUGE mix up. Very long story but to cut to the chase it boiled down to walking out of a karaoke place without paying the 6,000yen bill or something similarly small (drunken someone else paid thing). He was in the center for nearly a year. The case was brought to court and the system was shocking. Japan is a guilty until proven innocent country, where the police print up a statement before you have even had an interview and then try and force you to sign it through various methods a
  11. Yesterday I was watching a show where the contestants (famous people of coarse!!) had to guess who out of the 6 people riding the roller coaster were "New Halves"!!!!!! Very bizzare, love the complete lack of "PC-ness" here!!
  12. That is pretty crappy timing as just booked a ticket through them about 5 hours ago!!!! Having said that they were the only company who could find me a ticket and also the cheapest price at short notice (or maybe not had i phoned in Japanese?!?!?! ) Unfortunately I am not really shocked about this kind of behaviour here anymore!!
  13. when old ladies reach 65 and decide they MUST have a blue/purple rinse!! Hair dresser: "Oh hello Ethel, nice to see you again, haven`t been in for a while. So what is it today just a tidy up?" Ethel: "Nope, blue...I want it blue" Hair dresser: "You sure Ethel, you don`t mean brown or blonde do you, blue is kind of bright?" Ethel* "Yes, blue, make it blue please. I`m 65 you know!?"
  14. read a while back that he had his finger in some business pots, and had been thinking of starting his own business for some time. Seems as though he has his head on straight also, but would like to see him put something back into the game in japan to try and pull the standard up.

  16. Japanese whalers and irresponsible fisherman, huge hotel corporations who light up entire beaches or concrete up half of them, construction companies who build over wet lands....all go on the list this end.
  17. Out of interest how do they test paternity when it`s still embryo form? Do you not have to wait until it`s fully developed/born or is it possible to check at any stage? Would have thought it would be dangerous taking blood from a baby inutero or in embryo??
  18. Wouldn`t be caught watching the football any other way!! Beer wench?!

  20. Quote: In fact, it's a source of national pride that Australia is the second largest consumer of plastic kangaroos in the Southern Hemisphere. [/QB] Someone buys more??? Who is 1st?
  21. ...makes you think why they never won a game?! japan at play
  22. agree witht the universal statement that it was a wee bit slow last night, annoyingly so! So mnay missed chances, did look as though Cole (I think) got a bit of an elbow in the back in the box going up to nod it in, in first half, could have changed the game a bit. Read that Beckham was actually ill before and during the game, sick on the pitch. Obviuosly not a great performance but I wouldn`t drop him for Portugal, out of big match experiance more than anything. Lenon looked good for the 10 mins he was on but still only 19. Dissapointed with Lampards missed chances, more a rugby convers
  23. Wasn`t Victoria pleased!!! Top free kick from Beckham, after booting a cabbage around in the first half it was good timing!! Thats a pretty awsome skill. Seems like the Ecuador team has a kids party clown in the changing room also, what with the keepers face paint!! P.S Has Miss Beckham got balloons up her top also?!?!

Yeah he seems like a pretty interesting guy, last year in Bolton the japanese press started asking all the questions in Japanese and dissing some english players, he told them they were in a room full of english people in England so don`t be so rude and start speaking English!! Took the wind out their sales a bit!!
