  1. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I got sponsered 1 full complete set of gear every season and I rode over 100 days in it and I have never been so stoked at the quality of gear that the guys gave me.
  2. coming from a background in mountain rescue, all the jackets Ive owned have been a shell of three ply Gortex or some other cloth of the same quality or water proofness. It really depends on what you expect of your jacket or pants, the money your prepeard to put into it reflects on the quality you get. If you go for a really "COOL" lable, you get a really Cool lable at an expencive cost but if your prepared to research a little and go for a renound name, with references, where you know the quality is not going to let you down, even if you wear it for 1 year or ten, it should still be just like
  3. Ive got an AU and no complaints there. I dont know any other brand that gets coverage in my part of town, and it gets great coverage in the back country, always have friends asking to borrow it as theirs dosent work.
  4. Colles (Spelling?) compound fracture of the wrist with a dislocated elbow and my ulna poking out the back of the dislocation, man that hurt, took about 5 months to recover from that one. Ive broken both my arms, wrecked a shoulder and broken many many ribs over the course of about the last 15 years, never broken a leg though, which is a good thing, you can still ski with your arm in a cast but not with your leg in one.Fingers crossed for no injuries this season
  5. Monteiths please!! Im givin my best to get more snow, another couple of hits then I`ll give my sacrifice to the snow god Mulogh!!(Hes the Norweigan god of snow, always flick your roach to em)
  6. The same in NZ as Japan, its a big compition to see who is the first to open, even if its is only 1 poxy run with full price lift tickets, they still pull the punters. In Mt Hutts case its pretty necessary to have snow making even just to build a base for the main runs as the whole skifeild is rock. Most of the terrain is unskiable unless there is more than 30cm of snow otherwise you just give your skis a "Natural Base Grind" done that a few times myself. I reckon its worth it in the long run.
  7. Dunno about the BC. maybe in another week of two, if this weather keeps up. Iknow alot of the ski fields are ment to be opening this weekend but unles we get a foot or two they mayeb lucky. I haven`t seen any snowmaking being done. Yamakashi, good to hear the bindings arrived, if the shop tells you that the toe binding height is different to the heel binding height theyre full of crap, just tell em to mount them anyway.
  8. Yeah mate, I`ll be the bearded dude rippin past cars on the sidewalk behind the dog scarin the shit out of the locals
  9. Last night it started snowin in town at about 3am.The snow has settled on cars but not on the ground yet, its kind of died off now with the occasional flurry coming through. Its on the way, Yahoo!!!!. Me and the Wiggleses will be out there soon makin turns!!
  10. Dogs great now, all the swellings down and she gets her stiches out tommorrow morning, Ive already had her back in her old sled harness pulling me on my bike. Cant wait for her new harness to arrive as it will be heaps more comfortable for her, cant wait for the snow either, but it did snow last night to about 1/3 of the way down Goryu and 47, Happo got snow about half way down. All we need now is for it to snow down in town so I can haul ass on my old skis behind the dog!!
  11. Oh yeah I forgot to say that if you use additives to make snow in warm temps, like Snomax or other brands its about $600nz per kilo and to make 50m square at a depth of 20cm it will use about 30kgs so not very economical, but its used lots in early season in Aussie and NZ.
  12. It really depends on what type of machine your using. Back in NZ to run the pumps to power 26 guns, (different system to japan) it was about $200,000 nz per month. When they cranck these things up every light in the town dims down there is that much drain on the grid. I assume that the portable guns that many fields use here, the ones with trscks and are self propelled, they would be much cheaper as they run on diesel, but the in japan you have to pay for the water where as in NZ waters still free. Way too much for our meager incomes to even think about owning one of these things, personally I
  13. They sound way wrong dude. I know people who have different settings but its generally because they have a bung knee.Get someone who knows what theyre doin to set your DIN settings. Check your heel binding settings too.
  14. Back home we call it "Light and drys" Really heavy stuff, like if you stop youll never get goin again, we call that Gorrilla snot!

  16. My wifes vegetarian and we go to a variety of restaurants and ordering food with no meat is generally not a problem, most places are only too happy to not put meat in their food, the mexican restaurant Uncle Stevens replace meat with refried beans, great feed their.
  17. Yep she was killed, she was J walking across the road and a truck hit her. I reckon the locals are havin a go at thinning the population around here in an "any way we can do it" style.
  18. Got me a good one goin now, yep I think I scare people too!
  19. Tom Jones & Poritshead. Kind of different to what Ive been listening to lately but its quite cool. Oldy but a goody, Jim Croche, Rembember the song Leroy Brown, he sang that. And as always good kiwi band Salmonella Dub.

  22. The poor bastard. We all feel sorry for him having to hire people to check which mails are worth reading and which are not. I wonder how much he pays them? maybe I can get a job doing that.
  23. just finished watching Drew Carey tonight, one of the episodes was a competion between "Which is better" Rocky Horror or Pricilla Queen of the desert. Which do you think? Old drag or new? Maybe we should start a pole. Maybe Im just bored on a friday night!
