I remember asking a question about skier compaction in the BC & avy forum a ways back and got similar blunt responses from some members..... on the plus side I also got some very informative responses and links which answered my question (and also raised more), moral of the story..... Shiribetsu would be off the hook, I always ogle it when I am at Rusutsu. Shiribetsu is connected to west mountain, you can hike from the top lift along a ridge to the top. According to Andrew from BD it takes two hours.Apart from that I couldn't see any other decent BC at Rusutsu.

By Rusutsu BC are you referring to Shiribetsu? 2 Hour hike up from the top of west mountain??

Yeh rode Miharashi last night at 8pm and it was sweet! Strawberries yesterday morn was off the hook, Probably the best session I have had in there in the 5 years I have been here! Hopefully last nights wind drops off as the annupuri bowls will be something else when it clears.

Just some info for those interested in checking out Iwanai. I drove up there today,they had one lift running that went pretty much nowhere. They are now running a snowcat operation tuesday,thursday and saturday that will take you up to 700m for 10,000 yen or NAC does trips out there for 24,000 yen. From the looks of it they dont run the other lifts anymore and the upper ski runs are starting to reclaimed by shrubs. Snow cover was was a bit thin and some of the disused runs had alot of shrubbery sticking out....still reckon it would need about another meter to make it worthwhile. There was pr
