  1. true true. i'm about an hour from noz, maybe hour half from haks, though my place isn't nearly the size of chateau zwelgen. but it does stay warm being small and cozy. since zwelgen left, i am looking for some new riding mates. but warning- i MUST get first tracks!
  2. seriously, what were they thinking having a party and trying to feed tigers?? what idiots!
  3. first off, whats the diff between a typhoon and hurricane? is a typhoon in the pacific and hurricane in the atlantic? bc yeah hurricanes can be exciting but also scary. take isabel which just hit the east coast of the us. my family lives near virginia beach, which at one point was a direct target when i was category 3 or 4. but luckily, it slowed down and moved a little to the west. still, from talking to my mom last night, there was a lot of damage. it hit on thursday, and many people still dont have electricity. so many trees were blown over, some landing on houses, cars. one
  4. db- you seen any buster keaton films? seven chances (i think it's called) is good.
  5. downloaded safari last night and i love it! the bookmarks bar is super useful. i cant believe i waited so long to get it.
  6. 011 you must have moved before the opening of the starbucks in nagano city. my j friend told me that it set a sales record opening day for all shops worldwide. or something like that.
  7. for noz it was 55,000 last year. anyone know about an early bird discount???
  8. i don't know much about the technical stuff, but i say buy it! my friend got a delica for free last spring, just paid about 24 man for shakken and it is so great!! before you spend the money to buy and then to shakken, ask around to see if anyone has one without shakken they want to get rid of. thats how my friend got his for free! delicas kick ass- they are super easy to go camping, on road trips, etc with lots of people and gear so it really cuts down on parking, expressway tolls. plus its great for going out in the big city (like nagano haha) bc you can sqeeze lots o people in and then
  9. cortina bc of good things i've heard but missed out on. niseko if i make it up to hokkaido this year.
  10. so even without snow, there's a lot of fun to be had in the mountains of nagano. this weekend there's a big rave in koumi-- visionquest the gathering. just wondering if any of yall are planning to go. danz, mr*-- did you get my email a while ago about it??
  11. how can you enter that lottery???? and does anyone know if there's a discount for early bird season passes to noz???
  12. yeah go for it wally! if youre not on the mountain, the winters are too cold and unbearable in nagano. where is your son moving to?
  13. i know zwelgen worked a mickey ds a while ago. and i had a roommate who worked at a pizza place. loved the free pies!!
  14. i feel like usually mid august is when the heat and humidity become unbearable. in nagano cold week (when high schools have a vacation) is usually the first week in feb.
  15. ask zwelgen about it-- shes got an identical twin sister. though in photos you can kinda guess which one is which.
  16. i think i read somewhere that is has something to do with your blood chemistry. if you take b12 tablets, that should make you less appealing to them. I've pretty luckily untasty without it. speaking of nicknames, according to time magazine, the us one is "skeeter". was in an article about the west nile virus... pretty scary stuff going around the states.
  17. ok i havent been home in a year, but when i went last summer, i remember being struck by the diversity of people. maybe it was because i spent time in big cities like nyc and philly. and then in virginia everyone had the biggest southern dawls and were superfriendly.
  18. though i do like getting little snacks on my desk at work, omiyage is such a pain in the ass. i dont like having it hang over my head when i'm enjoying a vacation.
  19. my friend had a lovely backyard garden with tons of basil and flowers growing. but her school came and chopped it all away til only dirt was left. by backyard is becoming a jungle- i dont have anything to cut the grass with and the mint is spreading like crazy!
  20. i like to play camping too. especially when trance music is involved. it happens a lot in nagano
  21. have yall seen who arnie is up against for gov? larry flynt (hustler publisher) and gary coleman (whatchu talkin bout willis?) personally, if i lived in cali, i would probably swing for arianna huffington. she's said some pretty interesting stuff about SUVs . She also writes a column for salon.com .
  22. got mine on in my house now. makes sleeping a lot easier.
  23. how about second hand clothes? i shopped at thrift stores a lot in the us, but here they are too expensive. but sometimes i indulge. got a gorgeous 2nd hand kimono and obi in tokyo.
  24. happens to me too. even if i'm not connected to the internet, but making a call on my landline, there's static if the cable is plugged into my comp. really annoying.
