  1. just got off the phone with an extremely helpful apple chap. im sending my aPOD in for repair. anyone know if applecare is worth the cash? its going to cost me 40 dollars just to ship the thing, so it probably isnt a bad idea just to pay an extra 40 and get the applecare.
  2. i love smoothies. im not a big breakfast person but i love to chuck some plain yoghurt (non sweetened with all the good active bacterias), bananas, honey and ice. honey in a smoothy is divine.
  3. i learnt chinese for 4 years. i cant really write it anymore. can speak it ok but its tough. really wish i could take a course at university. french is important in canada for government jobs, but i have no desire to learn it.
  4. im liking it so far. i ended up playing the first one into the ground, so its good i have some fresh tunes to start playing again.
  5. thanks for the help indo. i followed those instructions and downloaded the latest itunes. still doesnt work. im going to send it off under warranty i reckon.

  7. my ipod died (kinda) the night before a 24 hour flight from sydney-japan-toronto. its still busted (a week later) and when you turn it on an apple is on the screen followed by some loud churning sounds and a picture of a file with an exclamation mark. i tried resetting it, plugging it in etc. the battery doesnt die either. i think im going to have to send it back.
  8. i (we rather) have a 15 year old golden lab.
  9. i just bought the death cab for cutie dvd "drive well, sleep carefully". i like it because its more of a documentary with live footage mixed in rather than just a straight out live show. plus its filmed by a fan on the road with them in 16mm which adds a nice touch.
  10. i dont know if anyone is going to be able to help me out with this one, but does anyone know where id be able to buy stuff by the artist, yoshitomo nara in tokyo. i know he used to have an exhibit at the hara museum in shinagawa but that has since ended. any help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. in my dads hometown in canada there is a dog hair salon/store called "doggy styles"
  12. RE: movies on demand and personal televisions. i just flew on the most ghetto air canada plane out there. the whole set up was really old and there wasnt even a projection tv screen. just tiny screens that come down from the roof. i am told some of the newer AC planes have individual tvs but as far as im concerned its all hearsay. ive been flying the toronto-tokyo route for 3 years now (sometimes as much as twice a year) and have never been on said plane. plus its one of their longest hauls! 14 hours or so! on the plus side though, the older planes seem to have significantly
  13. i usually dont get overly jetlagged. the combination of gravol and neocitran usually does the trick. i also push myself to go to bed late. mind over matter and all that. im flying out of toronto to tokyo in a few hours. it'll be the first time im there for less than a month so i hope to get over the jetlag in a few days.
  14. we use brita at home. more than anything its just nice to not have to drink tap water and keep it in the fridge so we always have water that is always cold. in the summertime i hate the lukewarm water that comes out of taps.
  15. im going to nova scotia next week for 2 weeks. then its off to tokyo for a short stay and australia. im excited
  16. i fractured a bone in my knee due to lack of cartilage or something (i forget the details) at the ripe age of 17 from the impact of jumping around on the basketball court. its given me trouble ever since (3 years ago). its a good thing i cant afford to snowboard that often because im positive id do it in again. i wish you guys the best with your recoveries.
  17. heron island is about 500km north of brisbane. its not that far north. im pretty sure its loggerheads and green turtles in that region. its a national park and there is active marine research station. one of the best in australia i think.
  18. one of my favourite childhood memories was seeing the turtles running along the beach on heron island in australia. i really want to go back there. what a sight to see.
  19. i havent skiied in australia since i was 10 years old. i cant believe how much a day pass costs. im hoping to get a few days in while in canberra in august. although, i really cant be effed to drag all my equipment across the world for a few days. how expensive is it to rent? is it possible to rent in canberra rather than rent in jindy or whatever?
  20. lots of fruit picking in canada. i used to pick wild strawberries and blueberries around the cottage in the summertime.
  21. i dont know if i'd call the pixies overlooked. they are selling out every comeback show across europe and north america in hours. every music snob/music magazine creams over them. they are hardly going un-noticed.
