  1. Christmas is quiet at many skijo really just another day. And another quiet night in Zao!
  2. Congratulations SnowJapan on your very considerable changes. I am sure it will project a good message to people about Japan winter sports as well. Well done, it is very impressive.
  3. The skijo should be open as normal moshi-moshi. They are worrried that people won't come but there seems no need for undue worry regarding proximity to Fukushima as readings are close to normal.
  4. Getting a bit cooler now here, especially in the evenings.
  5. In the case of Zao, Australia is not as big a market as other countries. Not that I am directly affected as such, but of course I want to see Zao have a good season.
  6. I am also enjoying buying some things. But I worry about the snow season and exchange rate for foreign guests.

  8. Great stuff snowbender. Remember to fill it all up with snowboarding.
  9. "Closing down" is not a good image for a town or region to be stuck with. It reflects badly on all the places in the area in lots of ways.
  10. Good report Metabo. I hope they manage to keep to that plan.

Mr ILoveZao, On my recent trip to Japan, I spent alot of money -> 20,000 at Naha hotel 12,000 at Naha restaurant 120,000 at Onnah Hotel 40,000 at

  13. That would be big news. Got to feel for them, they're fighting against the word Fukushima.. now known throughout the world. Alts are close to Yamagata border, or Niigata. Perhaps they could apply for a transfer!
  14. I was at a meeting in Zao last week and I think the electricity is not the main worry. The main worry is... will people actually come next season? Lots of worried folk.
  15. Yes I noticed her name recently, I like it. That's her first name which I think is unusual. And not just because of the beer connection.
  16. Skijo can only guess what the situation is going to be right now. I know my friend who works in the offcie at the Zao resort though they are thinking it through in case they can't do nighta / need to cut back at night or even during the day.
  17. What about OZAWA!!! I think Maehara will have a go next time round.
  18. Bookings in Zao are very slow compared with usual. A big market for Zao from overseas is Korea and they are not booking yet so I hear.
  19. I have a soft spot (is that the correct English) for some of these old looks.
  20. I sort of live in both. Well part of the year in Zao and part of the year near Yamagata City. I enjoy benefit of both but do enjoy being in the quiet relaxed atmoshpere of an onsen village.
