  3. The ski area known as Ontake 2240 has changed name. As of autumn 2021, the ski area is now known as simply Ontake 御岳スキー場 Details are to be announced but the re-branding of the ski area appears to embrace history and tradition and while the name of the ski area is in kanji characters, they are also using the phrase 'The Japan Ski Village' (in English) in their announcement.   4. The Ski Resort Tenei ski area in Tenei Village (Fukushima Prefecture) will not be opening for the 2021-2022 winter. In a notice published in Fukushima, low snowfall in recent years, ageing facilities requiring maintenance and coronavirus are mentioned as reasons for the decision.   6. The Hakuba Sanosaka ski area in Hakuba Village (Nagano Prefecture) eventually opened for the 2020-2021 season after a lot of speculation. Unfortunately, it has been announced that it will not be opening for the 2021-2022 winter.   13. Asama Onsen was a ski area located in Matsumoto City in Nagano Prefecture. It was a fairly small area and was open between the 1950s and 1972. Despite having being closed for nearly 50 years, the ski lift is still there. More details along with a lot of photographs here: Asama Onsen, Matsumoto City
