    Yamagata city to Zao Onsen

Hi I am visiting Japan in a few weeks and I'd like to get over to Zao Onsen. I know the peak season is over etc, but would still like to go. Going to be in Yamagata city (central area). Am I right in thinking it'll be about 40 minutes to get up to Zao by bus? Just thought I'd ask. And say hi.

  6. Hiya moon sausage here New here, well have lurked a while and now that we are going to get to Japan thought I would join in. Going to get to Japan in January. The plan is time in Tokyo with friend, go up to Zao in Yamagata and perhaps get out to Niigata as well as it is so convenient from Tokyo. My friend has been to Nozawa in Nagano and wondering how it compares for those who have been to both. Thanks!
  7. As we are getting close to the season start, I thought I would start a thread that I will keep going during the season. Here's some photos, bit of snow on the slopes and light snow falling this morning.
  8. The new ropeway at Zao has started operations. A nice improvement I think and good to see positive things happening. Lets hope the season turns out to be decent. Love the new photos uploader/embed. It is so so easy!
  9. Hey. New here. My friends and I are hoping to be in Japan in winter and have about 4 days free in plans. I'm scoping going up to Zao as it looks incredible. Was wondering - it's not that far away from Fukushima and all the stuff going on there is it? Is it all ok up there this coming season? Cheers
