There's often pretty much 2 types now isn't there. The orchestral soundtrack and the one with all the tie in "inspired by" track just for marketing. They often seem to have almost nothing to do with the movie and tracks not even appearing in the movie at all.

Movies with cool soundtrack scores:

Gladiator

Braveheart

Titanic

Shawshank

Last of the Mohicans

Lord of the Rings (I'm not such a fan, but others like it quite a bit)

 

And the Garden State soundtrack is awesome.

Donnie Darko soundtrack is good too.

'Laurel Canyon' had a good soundtrack.

 

And for something with a good selection of 80's gold, you can't beat 'Donnie Darko'.

 

As far as motion picture scores go, they're all pretty similar to me (orchestra music) and I like listening to that sorta stuff at work sometimes.
