SnowJapan Admin Popular Post SnowJapan 178 Posted December 10, 2012 SnowJapan Admin Popular Post Share Posted December 10, 2012 SnowJapan Giveaways 2012/2013 The SnowJapan Giveaways for the new season are about to start. Hurray! We have well over 200 lift tickets (and counting) to distribute this season. Before we unleash the first one of many, though, I wanted to mention a few things and explain how this works. The ski resorts that take part in our Giveaways are obviously keen to gain good exposure on SnowJapan by donating their tickets. Many thousands of people get to see the informantion about the Giveaways on SnowJapan each week, and many people enter. The winners, often people who might otherwise not visit that resort, hopefully go to visit the resort. They perhaps take a friend, and they probably buy some curry-rice and a drink or two. Hopefully they enjoy themselves, want to go again and tell their friends. Using the prizes The ski resorts (or at least some of them) do actually keep records on these vouchers - by that I mean that they know if the tickets get used or not. Last season in particular there were a few instances where a fair few tickets that we sent out did not actually get used. Obviously, from time to time, circumstance may prevent some people from using tickets if they win. But we do want to appeal to people to please only enter a Giveaway that you really feel you will be able to use if you win. Feedback, reviews & photos In the past we have been somewhat disappointed that some people take the tickets, never to be heard from again. Or post photos on our site that they uploaded somewhere else. They may well tell their friends about it or post info on their faceblogs or whatever, but not on the Forums where they won the ticket.... If the resorts feel that they get good feedback and feel that the Giveaways are worth it, then they will likely continue to donate. But if they don't see that feedback, they may well question it's worth. So, we need your help with that. We need to be able to show the resorts that it is a good idea to do Giveaways on SnowJapan...... people actually using the tickets, photos uploaded to SnowJapan, Resort Reviews on the site - these things all really help us be able to repeat the exercise next season and ultimately of course increase your chance of winning another ticket. (Actually, we would hope that people upload photos and write resort reviews whether they win a Giveaway or not!) We don't actually need to do these Giveaways, but we do work hard to try and get as many prizes as possible each season so that people can get out there. Please help us try to keep that going for everyone's benefit. -------- Having said that, here's the deal for our Giveaways this season: Please only enter a Giveaway if: 1) You fully expect to be able to actually use the prize if you win 2) You agree to write a 'Resort Review' for the resort on SnowJapan (in the Resort Reviews section of the main site - new improved version coming soon) 3) You'll be happy to upload any photos to SnowJapan (if you have photos, of course!) ---- One more thing - this season we intend to post the member names of winners in a thread on these Forums. We will be creating a thread for each Giveaway on the Forums where winners can post photos that they have uploaded to SnowJapan, and we will also post links to Resort Reviews that have been posted on SnowJapan for the resort. This way, we will have a clear way to show resorts and they will be able to clearly see what a wonderful bit of exposure they get from donating their tickets to us for our Giveaways. Help us help you, I suppose is the message I wish to convey. Thank you ---- For those who do not know about our Giveaways, here's what we did last year: http://www.snowjapan...0112012-season/

cal 6
It all sounds pretty outrageous. What happens if we can't be bothered writing a review and uploading photos?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 10, 2012 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 10, 2012 Then, theoretically, maybe we just couldn't be bothered giving those people free stuff. Things like Resort Reviews and Photos benefit lots of people. The resorts are happy, literally thousands of people are happy as they read them and see them when they research stuff on the site - as no doubt many people reading this have done in the past - and we are happy. Let's happy. If some people use/take and then don't want to help and support, that's their choice. (Hey, thanks!) But I suppose those folk shouldn't really expect our goodwill in return. ippy 66
We only have to post a small moderate resort review and a few photos? Tcha! And if its alright,we might get another one? Clearly im gonna be swimming in bloody tickets! Ill have to conduct my own giveaway to get rid of them This is awesome. Its clearly a virtuous circle. More exposure = more resorts participating = more tickets = more chance of getting free tickets. Plus i freaking LOVE reviews! It might even encourage some lurkers to break their post cherry and thats great for the forum. Win win win win win. : D
SnowJapan Moderator SnowJapan.Com#4 5 Posted December 10, 2012 SnowJapan Moderator Share Posted December 10, 2012 The Resort Review section is undergoing a major overhaul very soon as well. We'll be posting more on that when the time comes.

Sciclone 2
If you have any for yuzawa area (naeba, kagura, gala/kogen/ishiuchi maruyama, or maiko), I'd write the best damn report possible. I plan on spending a day at each of them, so I hopefully can get a good feel.

SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 11, 2012 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 11, 2012 Yes, that would be good. Wouldn't want people to just post reviews when they win a ticket! We haven't been able to add any new reviews to the system for quite a while - server related issues. When we launch our new updated version of SnowJapan, once the initial shock subsides hopefully people will see how much cleaner and simpler submitting Resort Reviews will be. And hopefully more people will go back and post some reviews from their experiences and it will become a much more active and used part of the site.

SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan 178 Posted December 11, 2012 Author SnowJapan Admin Share Posted December 11, 2012 We don't know exactly yet, still working as hard as we possibly can to get it all ready. At least a few more weeks are required. The "new" Reviews section is actually ready now, but unfortunately we can't just put part of the new stuff online --- all the new stuff has to go online together at the same time. And if you wanna be the best you need to start training. Might i recommend practicing by finding a subject that only you find fascinating and delving into the minutia of it until you too can find a way of saying the same thing 1000 times without anyone realising.
