The FOOTBALL Thread (2008-2009)

If Kaka does join City, it would be hilarious watching him and Robinho lining up against Colchester United next season in the Championship. Perhaps Sky would cover it.

lol

Seriously the numbers involved are insane.

£500,000 a week is £130 million over 5 years + transfer fee of £100.

£230 million.

If football wasnt already silly, it is now.

Salary cap, or something, is needed.

Seriously, it would just make the whole market mad, it would not be good for football. It just beggars belief the thought of Kaka playing for Citeh (however MASSIVE they are).

Lots of conflicting "reports" and bullshit now but here's the best one

Quote:
Kaka appears to have turned down Manchester City's £91m offer, by claiming he wants to "grow old" at AC Milan.

The Brazilian playmaker was the subject of a world-record bid yesterday, with Sheikh Mansour, City's billionaire owner from Abu Dhabi, reportedly willing to offer Kaka around £13.6 million a year after tax.

However his latest statement, which has appeared on the website of Mediaset, a company controlled by Silvio Berlusconi, the Milan president and Italian Prime Minister, may now bring an end to City's hopes of completing the deal.

If Kaka really does get 500K a week, all the other boys will look at that and think 'hey, why am I only on 100K'. It's madness that I hope will not happen.

No harm. Ridiculous money for the ridiculous. I want them to grab what theycan and try to justify it. Would be a great larf to see them all go for the end career challenges. Good for the spectacle that is football.

Utter madness this all is, but it would almost be worth it for that to happen.
Kaka signs, City still shite with no class, get relegated! lol

I reckon he will go now, if not it would have ended already. Unless the 100M + 500K/wk is made up.

It'll be a coup for them: Man Utd have Ronaldo (for now), Man City have Kaka. It'll trump their neighbours. But if they go down it be so hilarious because they would presumably have to offload robinho and kaka for a fraction fo what they paid and man city would be the biggest laughing stock since Leeds.

City could do with having decent foundations (defence, midfield) before splurging out on this. This isn't a football decision, it's just "get the most expensive player/deal in history". I hope if he goes it all fails SPECTACULARLY.

Though it would be good to see Kaka playing.

It's a joke anyway as it is. Why do they need to pay 3 times more than the current transfer record? Why do they need to pay him 4 times more than the currently highest paid footie player?

Because it is Manchester City and they are no-one. They just have unlimited money.

Simple as that.

It makes the "Chelsea revolution" look poor. At least we were a decent team before that happened, whether that be good or bad.

maybe the idea is that with Kaka and Robinho, they will be able to attract "2nd rank" players (excellent players, but not in the top 20 in the world) more easily to bring up the overall level of the team.

KAKA DEAL OFF AFTER AGENT FINALLY SAYS THE WORD 'CITY'

BRAZILIAN superstar Kaká has called off a move to Manchester after his agent finally said the word 'city'.

Kaká said he thought 'Manchester City' was the name of the local railway stationThe AC Milan striker was furious claiming he had been duped into believing he was going to sign for a proper football team that had won a major trophy since he was born.

Kaká said last night: "My agent called last week and said that Manchester were interested in me. I was so excited at the thought of all those great players, the traditions, the best coach in the world, and of course Gemma Atkinson's magnificent charlies.

"I packed an overnight bag and we went to the airport, but as we were walking through the terminal my agent turned to me and said 'oh, in case I didn't mention, it's Manchester City.

"I stopped dead in my tracks and said, 'are you having a laugh? Seriously, is this some big **** joke?'.

"He said to me, 'don't worry, they're a really big club with loads of money. And then there's Mark Hughes'.

"I said, 'I already play for a really big club, I've got loads of money and what, in the name of God, is a 'Mark Hughes'?'"

He added: "I walked away shouting, 'go and get me a proper deal from a proper English club that does not include the word 'city'. No Hulls, no Birminghams, and no **** Stokes!'"

Manchester City said last night they still hoped to complete the deal if they can persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to sign for the club and act as Kaká's butler.

MANCHESTER CITY’S hopes of landing £107million Kaka are on a knife-edge after Real Madrid attempted to hijack the deal.
But City have landed West Ham striker Craig Bellamy, who will move in a £14m transfer this week. Real Madrid made their move for AC Milan’s Kaka on Friday night, contacting the player’s father and making it clear they are desperate to sign the Brazilian.
