None had abnormal radiation levels. Doubt any of those (or any subsequent) imports came from the tsunami ravaged regions or areas affected by the nuclear accident.

I can't really agree. To inspect them is certainly absolutely reasonable. And not wanting to get stuck with radioactive waste in the target country is reasonable too. That said, this could be simply done with a check at source before export though. An organization like SGS could do that easily. You miss the point: Earthquake and tsunami devastated Japan is

  7. Good job! Now Snoreman the Barbarian is on notice!
  8. Hope everyone is doing well. My heart goes out to those on here with friends and relatives in the affected areas who they haven't been able to get in contact with.
  9. Niseko Annupuri 24-27 February No major waits - maybe a dozen people in front of me at most at the gondola.
  10. You should have done your bit of social responsibility and woken the guy up and told him to roll over. I think a lot of heavy snorers (is that even a word?) just haven't been told, so they just don't know they even snore at all, no less annoyingly loud.
  11. From the article: "This is the trend of the future," Cui predicted, prompting a friend to joke that Niseko will be overrun with Chinese in 10 years. I wonder if the Chinese Bubble will even last 10 more years!?

  15. That's unfortunate. Well, good luck with the operation and I hope the recovery and physio goes smoothly. Out of curiosity, is your previously repaired other knee back to "100%", or do you have any lingering issues with it?
  16. Sapporo Kokusai, Teine, and Kiroro are all good day trips. You can catch the bus for Kiroro and Sapporo Kokusai from the bus terminal attached to the JR Sapporo station. I think you have to get to JR Teine or the Miyanosawa subway station to get the bus to Teine though. There's also the Asari ski area above Otaru, but you'll have to train over to JR Otaru and catch the bus from there. If there's a major storm blowing in off the Japan sea, Asari and Kiroro are the places to be.
  17. Details please! Maybe that needs it's own thread... I always love: "She-she-me = sashimi "Shoe-she" = sushi

  20. giorgio, I don't know about that Japanese powder board, but I have personally ridden a Jones Hovercraft. The board build quality is fairly good (built at the Nidecker factory in Tunisia - yes, really), but the factory base grind was a bit uneven. I'm about 80kg with myself, all the clothing, and the backcountry backpack, and it had more than enough floatation in deep powder. It is mid-wide, so the on-piste edging is not as snappy as a regular-width board, but if the tradeoff is a longer board to get the surface area for powder floatation, I'll take the mid-wide shorter board any day fo
  21. If Hollywood were to make a movie about your life, who would you want to play yourself? This doesn't have to be a realistic choice - none of that "well, so-and-so says I look like Gary Busey" - more like how would you like to be depicted. I would like to be portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson! (I hope this thread hasn't been done already!)
  22. Snowed overnight in the Sapporo/Ishikari/Otaru area. Get out there and get some! Guessing bluebird skies at Teine today, and continuing flurries at Asari, Kiroro, and Sapporo Kokusai.
