  1. Here is a great ski game. To keep you going during the coming snowless months. http://freezedstyle.hdtuotanto.fi/freezed_en.swf
  2. What is "competent skiing backwards"? What speed, surface conditions is necessary for your sick vid coverage? Why not try it extremely old skool, looking forward and pointing the camera backwards, or sideways. In general easier to control speed, and camera movement.
  3. From a distance (Tokyo) it looks like Fuji is still completely covered in snow. But that only from a distance it seems.
  4. Where is homer's brain by Tsundaboy? That's my favorite
  5. Hee It all depends on the day. Sofar I've had some really good days in Japan. Last year I skied 2 weeks in the States. 1 week around L.Tahoe and 1 week Utah. Out of 12 days skiing I had 1 crazy day in Powder Mountain and some ok days in Snowbird and Solitude. Alta the snowconditions were great but the visibility, was none. Aroudn L.Tahoe the weather was great but the snow sucked. Then I came to Japan and on my first skiing day here I found some chest deep powder. So in my mind if I had to make a choice it would be Japan over the States. (Although I never had a day like my first day
  6. Hee, the European media suspected Indurain too. and some will tel you that is why he stopped after his 5th win. He was the first who really dedicated his season for the Tour de France. Armstrong using a well-known/infamous doping related Italian physician doesn't do his case any good. Also his buddy Tyler Hamilton who just got suspended for 2 years on blood doping. But I am sure it is jealousy of the European riders and media, that some guy from faraway is running the cycling world for so long and with such ease that you get these stories going. Every year the media is hoping
  7. Most people using these things do not transfer their writing text into documents although they bought it to do it. It is the same with TabletPC users, and that has a lot better handwriting recognition and much more functionality. Handwriting recognition is a great tool, but transfering your handwritten text into typed text you end up with many mistakes (bad handwriting, unknown words) but you miss the layout. It is good for simple notes, but the best thing is to keep your handwriting as it is and save the text like that. On the TabltPC can search your handwriting and that work
  8. Aren't Pitztal and Kaunertal glaciers in Austria open in the summer? Last year the snow condition on the glaciers were so bad in Europe that a part of the Austrian national alpine team trained in an indoor snow dome in the Netherlands, of all places.
  9. Still hoping for some fresh snow to end the season on a high.
  10. SubZero is absolutely right. A leftside naviagtion bar makes you scroll more than now, and scrolling isn't the way to go Isn't it possible to create a top drop down menu instead of all these seperate links. That will save space (and a tiny bit of scrolling.
  11. Quote: Originally posted by i'm really hungry: How come so many Europeans rather than Americans/Canadians? The truth is in numbers here. There are many more European skiers than North American skiers, especially when naming guys with a alpine racing background and technical steep skiing. When you look at freeskiing that is much more american with Schmidt, Plake, McConkey, Morrison, Hall, the New Canadian Airforce guys, Black, Coombs, Swany and many more. There aren't too many Europeans that come to mind. Thovex, Olsson, Michaud, Perret, Chicherit.
  12. You forget all these people who don't have a desk job. So I surf the net 3 hours a day. That is compensated by the 5 person working/hanging around in Lawson's next to my office.. Then there are some companies that don't have internet (really they do exist). An important question for a job interview.
  13. discounts for gaijin! Or just a special day like the women days. That would make me consider a resort to be gaijin friendly.
  14. What is the difference between caught and dame? Does dame means you got thrown off the mountain?
  15. They have some jumps and rail and a short HP last time I was there. But with the snow rapidly melitng this might have changed in the last 2 weeks.
  16. Why not look out for the most unfriendly resort? Rude, annoying lifties. But no other people on the mountain. In the right circumstances that would make the day.
  17. I have a bunch of stickers that I need to put on my skis, but I only think of it when I am skiing. Once home I forget about it again, until next skiing day.
  18. The Snow Kanji in the O sounds good, but in order to really see you need a very big O. I agree with Toque. Just use the current SJ logo. Forget ".com". That is what was used during the internet bubble. Or stick it somewhere small (non-detectional) in the bottom.
  19. The list gets longer and longer. Don't forget Marc Girardelli. Hermann Maier broke his leg. Girardelli almost tore his leg off. He is technically a criple with 1 leg only functioning for 40%, but still managed to win overall World Cups. If he didn't have that injury he might he rivalled Stenmarks WC wins. Still 5 Overall world Cups. Or remember Jean-Claude Killy.
  20. I think 34G is right. Don't think the nature and weather of Austria and switzerland differ much. Both can be very pleasant and very wet and cold in summer. Vienna is a beautiful city. Better than anything I have seen in Switzerland. Plus the people in Austria are a bit more open and friendly. If I had to make the choice I would go for Austria. But if you want to go into the mountains then switzerland will be easier accessed from England. Just fly Easyjet to Geneva. 3 years ago I did a 3 day hike around the Dents du Midi (just east of Champery, part of Les Ports du Soleil) . The
  21. Once read an article on a place where they had the fastest chair in North America. Somehow they cranked up the speed to 80kmh!!! The only place where it is faster going up than down. Must have been some April fools day joke.
