  1. Point-and-click Warfare (IR battle video from a us gunship picking off fleeing taliban fighters. Includes color commentary such as "Did ya see that guy I just blew in half?!")
  2. Finally I'll be able to sleep at night... thanks danz! I vaguely remember them doing a tour, but I think they looked old and kinda washed up...
  3. Oh man... I used to love the Monkeys!! (sorry... not Monkey, but It made me think of The Monkeys...) I remember being crushed when I found out they weren't a "real" band.
  4. You can still see those girls around every once and a while, but I think it went out of fashion a while ago.
  5. Australia and the UK screwed themselves when they teamed up with the US. Terrorism will end when people start to question and address its root causes rather than how we can kill or imprison every member of al qaeda in the world. ...looks like it won't be anytime soon...
  6. The Dukes of Hazard Alf MacGyver The Muppet Show ...
  7. Cheeseman... you'll slip up one day... the truth will be known!! ...and to go further... There's another personality on this forum who is highly suspect in my book. I won't name names but you know who you are...
  8. I never heard seppo until I met a few aussies here, and I thought it was funny when I first heard it. While terms like Aussies, Brits, and Kiwis are endearing... I don't think you can say the same about Seppo. If I ever heard someone, I didn't know, refer to me as a seppo and then giggle about it, I'd just think they were an ignorant jackass. I wouldn't be offended because it doesn't mean anything to me personally...
  9. "Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon, refused to describe the incident as a hijacking" Let's see... Angry man with weapon on an airplane. Angry man with weapon attacks flight crew. Angry man with weapon attacks passengers. Angry man with weapon "was headed for the cabin to force a nasty outcome." doesn't sound like a hijacking to me...
  10. The only Japanese comedy I've seen, while sometimes really funny, has been pretty stupid. I wonder if there is anything more sophisticated than slapstick in Japanese comedy. Are two guys from Osaka slapping eachother on the head the extent of Japanese comedy?
  11. I hear where you're coming from if you say well it's my business I want to protect it... but... there haven't been any cases of sars in Japan, and people are screened before they leave and when they arrive in japan. Sounds like a business turning away people from sars affected countries are more likely to drive away business in the future than preserve it.
  12. I like to just go before I have a chance to think... otherwise if I wait too long, I tend to psych myself out.
  13. I think games have gotten sophisticated to the point that some offer benefits beyond "visual attentional processing". Driving and flight simulators nowadays have very realistic physics engines, so for example if you were to get behind the controls of a plane after playing a flight simulation game, you would have a rough idea of how a plane controls in the air. Also, the US govt funded the development of a free PC game called America's Army. It's used mainly as a recruiting tool for the army, but the interesting thing about it is that it's a fairly realistic combat simulator. I read an art
  14. In the states, it pretty much depends on what your school offers, but I think almost every school offers at least spanish or french starting from junior high. My school offered spanish, french, and latin. I studied french for about 3 or 4 years, but I was a bigtime slacker in high school, so I didn't really learn much. In hindsight I wish I had taken spanish because it's easy to learn, and very usefull in the states. Learning Japanese is a challenge, but I think languages are so cool, and reveal so much about a culture, so I definitely plan on studying something else after this...
  15. I always imagined the Yakuza having a stigma of being mysterious and dangerous, but I get the impression that most of these guys are just sleazy looking japanese dudes.
  16. I haven't seen any red bull, but Japan has a variety of similar "energy drinks" like Ripobitan D, and Ripobitan D Gold. I think the gold version has taurine and all the ingredients that make Red Bull as bad as it is.
  17. The "oishii programs" on tv get old really fast. If I had 100yen coin for every time I heard the word oishii on tv....
  18. ender - boo hoo... danz - you said it dude... for all you non-believers... read the sig! sunrise - That's a question i'd like to ask everyone here... what are most people doing here? I'm doing IT stuff.
  19. I've always heard british food is bad. Never had any real british food, so I can't say if I agree or not. American food has the reputation of being fatty and if it's possible to nail down exactly what american food is, that's probably true. The thing is... there are just as fatty foods in japan, but I think it's just that american portions are massive.
  20. If what I just experienced was just a 3... damn! 6 in Tohoku must have been intense. btw- It registered 7.0 on the richter scale!
