  1. i like being barefoot too, but what gets me is just not being able to buy shoes in japan!! i can buy men's sneakers fine, but i long for the cute, pointy, heeled, super painful, shoes j chicks always wear. i want to get snazzy for the weekends, but my sneaks are holding me back
  2. I've seen it!! It's really gone! My photo evidence is in the form of a polaroid- but sorry, don't know how to post that.
  3. nagoid- where were you? nagano city?
  4. yeah, definitely a good idea db. will have to copy you on that bc i havent seen any yet. i have a friend who hasnt seen star wars. i think he should just wait for episode three. then he could have a total marathon and watch all 6 in the right order.
  5. anyone eaten at hardee's? i think their char-grilled burgers are superior to bk and mcds. they also have tasty fried chicken (way better than kfc) and absolutely delicious sweet tea. and their breakfast biscuits are awesome- you can have butter, cheese, or fried chicken. yummmmm, my mouth is watering now thinking of all this.
  6. i know this has been a topic before, but there are some pics of funny english .
  7. yeah i wish i studied japanese in college- i really need the external pressure to force me to study hard and learn it. otherwise i cave and choose to read the forum instead of learning vocab. any other jets out there doing the clair course? i'm doing the intermediate level and it's the only studying i do. well, it's not even studying- i read thru the lessons, copy it down in a notebook and then try the test and get my students to check it. i did go to two different j classes a week, but it felt like such a waste- it was good general practice, but i wasn't learning anything new or reviewin
  8. sharon- i loved the red tent! i don't know biblical stories at all, but i still found it really interesting. definitely recommend it for the ladies out there, probably too celebratory of menstration and sisterhood for the dudes.
  9. yeah i can't see the logic in having a gun for protection. if someone did break into your house- would you really want to shoot them?? could you bring yourself to be that cruel to another human being? and if they had a gun, would yall get into a shoot out like it's the wild west? even if you just want to brandish the gun (and then the other guys could get scared and fire), what about accidental firings by you or others who may think there arent any bullets in the gun? if you are really scared of prowlers and want to protect yourself, just get some bars on your windows and big locks on you
  10. chatting up salarymen and singing karaoke in roppongi with other girls on visitor visas. nothing sketchy- although the men certainly tried. she made a hella lotta money- more than twice as much as a regular english teacher. and that's after taking out roppongi apt rent, "tax" for the yakuza, etc.
  11. my sister has been here since january, earning fast cash thru hostessing. but she's leaving on friday
  12. true the free ones are usually older and a piece of crap, but really though, what's the point of a flashy car? unless you are trying to make up for something you are lacking. my piece of tin gets me where I'm going and the money i saved has been well spent elsewhere.
  13. why waste your money on a car?? you can sometimes get them for free here! I'm with zwelgen and sf- nice holiday somewhere. ahhh, i can't wait til golden week.
  14. hey cheesy-peas- are you a friend of cheeseman or something? i think yall would get along real well...
  15. i usually arrive around 8 and am supposed to stay until 4:15, but i usually sneak out a little before 4. if i'm actually working on something or in a study groove, i'll stay later. but sometimes i'm bored to death and all alone in the teachers room while everyone else is in a meeting or assembly or maybe just getting drunk in a back room. they just seem to disappear one by one as i sit on the comp reading the forum. then there's really no point of staying.
  16. definitely schizophrenic weather now. friday night was nice, so i was driving around with my window down and i accidently left it cracked overnight. woke up saturday and it was snowing!! so my whole front seat was soaked
  17. danz- it would be free either way. i won free passes for happo from sj- woohoo lucky me!!
  18. fattwins- i've only tried the pipe once, so i dont think i'll get any air this year. but i do want to ride out a jump. yeah, i suck at the park
  19. it's horrible. i use a computer so much at school just for surfing, chatting, email, etc. then when i come home after work, i'm right back on it. but living in a small town in nagano, i would die without it!
  20. in the nagano city train station, there's a group of j dudes who break dance at night. sometimes they were helmets and spin on their heads. sometimes they just do lame handstand things. but it's always cool to watch as you wait for your train.
  21. ahh that must be nice to have a janitor. like most junior high schools, the students and teachers must do the cleaning. for 15 minutes everyday everyone puts those cloths on their heads, then gets down on their hands and kness and scrubs down the school. i get to empty trash cans and wipe teachers desks. oh joy. i feel sorry for the kids who have to clean the toilets. but what really gets me is that even though all they use is water, they still MUST open up all the windows during cleaning time, even in the dead of winter in nagano. why???
