  1. Le Spud, I had the same problem but never managed to find the instructions you found.... I just followed the ones you pasted here and it worked for me.
  2. Whistlers PARK seems to be consistantly ranked 3rd behind the PARKS of Park City and Mammoth. I would call the 3rd best PARK in the world one of the mountains main strengths. Have not hit that line again yet but I want to before blackcomb closes this sunday.
  3. In Whistler - as soon as we get some sunshine (it keeps snowing here) we will get some more vid - likely park skiing as that is whistlers main strength.
  4. We left Isawa last August and went to NZ and skied there for a season now we are at Whistler. There are lots of Japanese people skiing in Japan. NZ money is getting weaker at the moment so perhaps you dont need as much money as you think.
  5. not much video yet - just this http://www.snowjapanforums.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/1/6633.html
  6. Not really - I always managed to crash at my Uncles old holiday house. If your budgo like me you might consider http://www.aatravel.co.nz/main/listing.php?listingId=16246 or search the same site for other places.
  7. If your in Wanaka you have 3 options. Treble cone for terrain, snow park for park or Cardrona for both (but not as good as either)
  8. So what are the rules then? Who gets the second spot in the new line? Is it the 3rd person from the original line? Should every 2nd person from the first line move to the new line to maintain fairnes. What if there are two lines open and then a new one opens? hayai mono gachi!
  9. Quote: is anyone familiar with the PMTS© Direct Parallel Movements by Harald Harb of the Harb Ski Systems? I had a look at the site - there are even online lessons. Im not going to knock anything I havent tried but they seem to promote skiing with your feet very close together - in most of the pictures their feet are literally almost touching! sorry about the moving pic but I couldn't find any good still examples. p.s I got it from here http://www.harbskisystems.com/olg4.htm
  10. Hey there There is lots of great terrain here and the parks are excellent but the snow just isn’t what we expected (and they say it’s a great snow year). Ill write more on our impressions when the season has ended so I can get the full picture. We have been a little slack with the video camera too but that should change soon. We did film a couple of lines yesterday though. The first one is my brother and the second one is me. I was planning just to ski on the snow but I ran into some rocks that I couldent see for the sluff and ended up falling off the edge. I was a little nervous as so
  11. Quote: People who jump into the front of the line when a new line opens, even though they aren't next in line at a super market ,. etc., are rude. If a new line starts its open season. The line position from the previous line only applies in the old line.
  12. you could start going to japanese lessons now and have some better japanese for next season. On my first trip to japan with almost 0 japanese (but desperately trying to learn) I worked in Niseko at the dog sled / snow rafting thing they have there. Also teaching people from Hong Kong to ski (that was before there were many aussies there) now it prob even easier.
  13. The wide paralell thing seems to be the Canadian method for teaaching skiing. The NZ method still use the wedge (stem) christie. The canadian method seems to produce bad paralell skiers quickly, while the NZ method produces stronger ones more slowly. The time saved using the canadian method can be used to fix them up resulting in about the same rate of progress. A wedge christie means your about 1 lesson away from being a paralell skier - dont stop lessons now!
  14. I loved living near a beer vending machine, esp as my work finished at the same time as the supermarket closed and the nearest other option was a 10 min drive away.
  15. I have been let away with 36kgs twice (20kg limit on Air NZ and JAL) and have paid 5 man for 29kgs (20kg limit on Cathay Pacific) - its a lottery.
  16. Go past Morioka on the expresway going south - keep going for about 45mins until you get to Kitakami minami (south) exit. Get off the expressway there. Follow the signs. I would use a map as there are quite a few little roads to get confused on.
  17. Try these cities Aomori Morioka Kitakami Mizusawa Akita Yamagata Otaru Hakodate Sapporo
  18. Sounds like the place to be for grumpy gay drug dealing foreigners - the until now, forgotten demographic.
  19. You would think that the Canadans would have figured out that adding all the taxs into the displayed price on each item was a good thing before the Japanese - but they didnt. Its not 5% either its like 20% once you add the alchahol tax the provincial tax and the national tax and the recycling deposit.
  20. Hey Working at Whistler Village ski school and Siem is at the Blackcomb ski school. My bro is tossing up between ski school here and patrol at Mt Baldy. Any comments on Mt Baldy from anyone thats been there?
  21. Hisashiburi! Just having a wee read and thought I would rub it in that Blackcomb has already opened (for the weekends)and we have spent 2 days skiing already. http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/weather/gallery/nov05/index.htm Have a good season jared and siem
  22. Thanks everyone - its been an awsome 3 years but it is definately time to leave. There is a lot of world left to visit. over and out (from Japan)
  23. The current NZ government is OK - its not perfect but it will do.
  24. Lots of them in NZ are electric (smaller more remote ones are desel) - powers cheaper there than here.
