I dont recall seeing anyone riding their treadlies on the streets of tokyo wearing helmets. Just the way things are in Japan i guess. -
fwiw I use volkl mantra 177s 132-98-118 as my everyday work ski. Volkl have only made very minor changes to this ski in the past seven years. If you only have one set of skis this would be my choice. Does everything, any conditions. The Kendo is similar, just a little narrower. No i am not sponsored by volkl. I still have to pay for my gear.

gvm3373 replied to sanjo's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry

The Myoko tourist office can probably help if you dont have a car, otherwise have a look at chuo taxi or ixsm travel. both provide transport to the resorts in niigata and nagano, hope this helps. -

@ seemore, you need more than a book. focused education and experience, lots of experience. there are no shortcuts. Go to nz or canada and do an avalance course. there any many courses run during each winter. you seem like a nice guy, I dont wont to be on the end of a shovel digging you out because you or somone in your party made a bad decision. -
