  1. They can't use the tin opener ...
  2. One time I was in a Twin Otta jump plane in Arizona and a dust devil ran parallel to us when we were taking off. Saw everyone's face go blue. These guys were very unlucky. RIP
  3. When nuclear war comes, cockroaches will be the only thing that survive... you get irradiated spam... with a radioactive tin.
  4. TB, are you allergic to it? Tororo Soba is good! What about.. Kusaya no himono
  5. St. Andrews, been there ! Agreed, it is a nice town. I even played on it once when I was a kid. Golf is a game of keeping a steady heart. Good excuse for a walk.
  6. Those singles without backs, When you think about it it's a pretty crazy design. No brains. They never had bars and I wonder when they came in I can't remember. I remember people falling off lifts and reading it in the papers. For snowboarders, T bars simply hurt when you are on it for a long time. I don't mind when it's for a short time, it's kinda fun. I tried it after my 9th day of boarding and no problems. Apparently it was part of a snowboarding lesson how to use tows according to my Bavarian girlfriend. Actually, those singles are not padded and it hurts when you have a snowboa
  7. I am with you on this JA. What is the big deal about driving cars fast that justifies earning big bucks. Overpriced overrated toys for show. Promoting a pertro-chemical based economy that is unsustainable? F1 is a pretty boring circus just watching cars go round and round like a merry go round. And you don't get to ride it.
  8. I have insurance with DSV (German Ski association). My normal insurance covers incidents in Germany and this one covers worldwide for a year. Say, I am boarding in the Austrian or Italian side of Alps this covers it. I have a policy that is for snowboarding and it is a little more expensive than skiing. It also covers for stolen equipment (value reduces each year). No helmet clause.
  9. This thread title should be changed to SJF Comedy channel... Or are you guys really comedians ?
  10. Back to topic.. There are 2 types. One operates with a CO2 cartridge (ABS) and the other with Air. The one with air is obviously an advantage because you can breath that after burial if you can puncture it. The air one also has two types of cartidge pressure, one for Europe and the other for North America. These comply with the airline regulations. Some heli operators are bit iffy about them and don't want them aboard. You got to check that out.
  11. I would be more fair if the insurance is cheaper for helmet wearers, and more expensive for non-wearer. Like smokers and non-smokers quotes. As I said, freedom of choice. I never used to wear helmets, either, so I understand that. It's interesting law and habit enforce many peoples behavior.. Actually, wearing a helmet is much more comfortable than wearing a beanie. Beanies get hot and hair gets soggy underneath. Sometimes itchy. After wearing helmets, my head is walm, never cold, sweaty, itchy. I wear a Scott. Not too expensive, Looks a bit big but very light, chin straps are sof
  12. Not that desperate. bit like glorified pet food for me..
  13. Disgusting for 2 reasons... Yu don't hunt for endangered species. You eat what you kill. Trophy hunters are wankers.
  14. Maybe take up meditation... Go to a zen temple ... Some people exercise sitting down. Some people can exercise their body by visual training in one's head.
  15. Lessons - I'm all for it ! Get a wrist guard, knee and elbow pads for volley ball, hand ball. If you are one of the "go for it" types, You will fall a lot. I fell 150 times on my first day. 50 my second day. well... I did it on a red run.. I wish I had these pads, and an arse pad. Impact shorts in hindsight.
  16. Sad to hear an avoidable loss of life. Ultimately it is a personal choice. As long as one has been informed of the risk and consequence of not wearing one. FACT - helmet saves head injuries,as long as it is designed for the job. EN rated appropriate helmets. If you decide not to wear it for coolness factor or you like the feeling of wind on your head, (I doubt that unless it's warm spring conditions), that's your choice. Arizona USA, you can ride a motorbike legally without a helmet.... but making it compulsory can save some lives.. here's my case I never used to wear helmets until
  17. Also uses fear to propagate There is the unknown, and there is the unknowable...
  18. O.K I add Stilton to the yummy cheese from UK
  19. The type you see in the pic is more effective than ABS systems because: - You have space around the head which creates more breathable space - The airbag around your head acts as impact protection - You are more likely to be in heads up position when in a avalanche The whole system works on the principle that a bigger particle floats on top in a moving avalanche. It will work unless you are at the bottom and the avalance dumps on top and stops there.
  20. Rob, Brown is the colour of the bread, the ingredient can be something.. loaves - just a shape Baguette - continental bread smaller in size but bigger than rolls. Bagels _ jewish, boiled bread Cibatta, foccacia - Italian. pumpernickel - continental Rye - uses rye flour not necessary German. So, if there is a continental bakery near you in UK, that's cool. But if you don't what do you have. Spongy textured white or wholemeal in different shapes and one kind of rye. probably not even 100% rye. That happens in Japan and Australia. OK I have German taste buds for bread. I
