tsondaboy 0
Good for the resorts for sure, but 50 cm after this warm week is not always good news for the BC. I havent been up there since Sunday, but if I was heading there tomorrow, I would be very conscious.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 1, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2007 Yes I see that but if we don't get some decent snow soon, the season will be over for more than a few resorts before too long and there will be a lot of unhappiness round here that's for sure. tsondaboy 0
Do they use snowmaking in the lower parts to preserve their snow levels, or they rely only on natural snow?
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 1, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2007 As far as I'm aware, only Naeba have snow making machines out there.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 1, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2007 It has started to snow

SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 1, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 1, 2007 I don't want to speak too soon, but it's coming down pretty good right now - possibly the best I have seen this season actually.
montoya 0
just got back from kagura, there's at least 2cm-4cm sun-crust on all south faces, and exposed north and east faces. Some places it's like ice. If you're hiking up this weekend I'd be very wary of the steeper slopes. Although different regions, read the Hakuba Now! report, their avie forecast seems applicable for the Yuzawa area during this storm cycle.
tsondaboy 0
Last time I was there for the ARAC course, we wrote the avie forcast together with Dave after the course. One thing is for sure, he doesnt try to scare off people from the slopes. When he says its bad , take his word on it. Probably the most objective, non biasing report around. SirJibAlot 0
tsondaboy, I have a free pass to Iwappara - but after seeing the pics of the base - I was thinking Kagura. Of course with this fresh dump - iwappara might be doable....Where you headed?
Fattwins 0
Yeah I know the reports but im also watching the weather like crazy today we will get some settling. There will be some safe slopes out there to ski.

SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 2, 2007 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 2, 2007 Here's the same area of Iwappara at around 11am this morning Changeable weather at the moment - the sun is out at the moment and no snow falling but hopefully the snow will be back. DumbStick 13
That looks a bit better. Though 20cm won't go far I suppose.
SirJibAlot 0
SJ1, Thanks for that pic - still looks a bit barren - Kagura is probably the best bet for this w/e - Iwappara still needs a bit more.
tsondaboy 0
The park area @ kagura isnt bad at all but there is no pipe.
big-will 7
By the park at kagura do you mean the one in the Mitsumata area or is there one in the actual Kagura area? (Things were much simpler when it was known as Mitsumata / Kagura / Tashiro whatever)
