This week we have seen a mix of weather conditions in Yuzawa. It got quite warm mid-week but this morning it is a fairly cool start to the day. It is a cloudy morning but rain is forecast.
A cloudy start early on at Kagura but for the day the forecast is cloud and rain at times. Looks like the weekend should be clearer conditions though and we will likely be treated to some sun.
There's still really good snow cover up on the main run at Kagura, though the Mitsumata area is now officially just used for connecting to get over to and back from that main area. The resort are doing their best to keep a thin strip of snow available for that purpose, but the surrounding areas in Mitsumata are now dry and lots of lovely fresh spring green colours to enjoy. It's much better getting to Kagura by lift than bus though, so great that they can keep it open this long.
The following lifts plan to be operating this weekend at Kagura (Sunday 19th and Sunday 20th):
Mitsumata Ropeway
Mitsumata No1 quad
Mitsumata No3 pair
Kagura Gondola
Kagura No1 pair
Kagura No1 quad
The Ropeway will start it's day of work at 7:30am tomorrow and Sunday - it's expected to be busy and the car park will fill up fast. An early start is highly recommended if possible.
Kagura plans to be open until Sunday 27th May.

This was updated on the Naeba Now page, so thought it might be an idea to refresh the Yuzawa page as well.
After the cold snap of late last week it has warmed up a little the last few days and today has been sunny with just some white clouds up there. A high of around 25C this afternoon and a breeze most of the day, stronger at times during the day.

The following lifts plan to be operating this week (Monday 14th to Friday 18th):
Mitsumata Ropeway
Mitsumata No1 quad
Mitsumata No3 pair
Kagura Gondola
Kagura No1 quad
The Mitsumata area is now just used as a connecting course to get people to and from the Kagura area.
It looks like we will be rained on at least part of tomorrow, but clearer conditions are forecast for the rest of the week after that.
Kagura is open until Sunday 27th May.

I said in thast last report that things should remain dry for the week... well it didn't quite turn out that way with some unsettled conditions and rain at times - including this morning. Cloudy with rain showers for the day today, surprisingly cool as well, is what we have lined up today. Perhaps some more tomorrow with clearer and brighter conditions more likely for Sunday.
The following lifts plan to be operating this weekend (Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th):
Mitsumata Ropeway
Mitsumata No1 quad
Mitsumata No3 pair
Kagura Gondola
Kagura No1 pair
Kagura No1 quad
Just over two more weeks to go at Kagura. Snow in the Mitsumata area is retreating quickly now and is patchy - though you can still ski down to the top of the Ropeway. Some snow moving going on to keep those runs open. Surely most people will be getting straight up to Kagura though - where these is still great cover - and staying there for the day and only coming back to Mitsumata at the end of the day...?
Have a good weekend.

Golden Week has now finished and a few more ski resorts in Yuzawa close for the season. With Gala Yuzawa, Naeba and the Tashiro area of Kagura now closed, just Kagura remains open.
The following lifts plan to be operating this week:
Mitsumata Ropeway
Mitsumata No1 quad
Mitsumata No3 pair
Kagura Gondola
Kagura No1 quad
Still a fairly big area up there!
It's a sunny start to the day here in Yuzawa and with a current temperature of 14C it's nice and cool with a bit of a breeze. It looks like the weather should remain dry for the week - mostly a mix of cloud and sun.
We will keep this Yuzawa Now report page updated about twice a week until the lifts at Kagura close on 27th May.

We ended up getting some sun and blue sky yesterday after the very cloudy start to the day and the good news is that today looks like it should be bright today - from the early conditions anyway with the sun out at the moment, though some forecasts do still say we might get some rain later on in the day. It's a warm 19C at 9am in town.
Kandatsu couldn't last until the planned 6th May, but Gala Yuzawa, Tashiro and Naeba could - but today is the last day for all of those places. From tomorrow, only the main Kagura area will remain open. To be clear on that point, the right hand side Mitsumata run alongside the No1 quad will still be skiable, so there's still going to be a lot of area open.
A sunny day is forecast for tomorrow.

So yesterday was a bit of a grim day really in terms of weather. It was still raining heavily later on in the evening.
This morning I was up quite early and it was actually quite chilly for a change. Amazing when you remember how hot things were feeling just one week ago. It is actually about 11C at the moment in town so not winter-like. Today a high of around 21C is forecast for later on in the afternoon.
It's a cloudy start with a few spots of rain earlier on (holding off at the moment), though certainly better and brighter than it was yesterday. The forecast has it clearing up and we might even get to see the sun later on in the afternoon.
Kandatsu aren't going to be able to make it for the weekend apparently - not enough snow left, and so yesterday was the last day of their season.

Rain was on and off yesterday, but it's most defitely 'ON' this morning with heavy consistent rainfall outside this morning. I think I'll pass on the skiing myself, this morning! For those hardy enough to need to be out there today though (and good for you!), the resorts are actually open this morning. It looks like the resorts are pretty much open as planned actually.
So, how about the weekend proper? The latest forecasts seem to be telling us that while there's a better chance of clearer weather and the sun, there's also going to be a chance of showers as well... both tomorrow morning and on Sunday. Though hopefully not in the way the rain is coming down this morning. Let's hope the rain holds off.
From Monday, Kagura (via Mitsumata) will be the only resort are remaining open.
