The hot weather has continued since last week with a lot of sun and fairly clear skies.
Just a few moments ago there was some thunder in the area and a chance of some rain this evening.
Looking ahead towards the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba over the weekend --- it's looking like we might be in for some clear, sunny (and of course hot!) weather this time round with the highest chance of rain on Friday. Saturday and Sunday currently are forecast to be clear and sunny. |

The rainy season was officially over as early as Saturday morning and last weekend we saw temperatures soar into the 30's and real summer-like weather arrive in Yuzawa town. The hot and dry conditions have continued this week with temperatures into the early 30's each day and it looks like similar conditions might continue into the weekend, with perhaps the next rain later on Sunday.
Preparations for the Fuji Rock Festival at Naeba next weekend continue. Right now the forecast is for sunny weather at the end of next week, but we'll give you another update on that early next week. |

We have seen a fair amount of rain fall over the last week or so in the Yuzawa area and right now a thunderstorm is starting up, complete with some strange yellow-ish skies. And after such fine and sunny - and hot - day as well.
The rainy season shouldn't be lasting much longer though and it looks like we should be seeing clearer weather from Sunday into next week with a run of sunny and hot days lined up.
Proper summer to start soon? It looks so.
The welcome flags are being put up in Yuzawa for the Fuji Rock Festival that will be taking place in a couple of weeks.
In other news, Gala Yuzawa has been busy preparing a new course that will open next season - it will be a course down from the top of the gondola (which is the base of the actual resort) to the base station, 2.5km in length. You can see lots of machinery and busy workers getting it all prepared from Route 17. It should be interesting to see how that course turns out. We will of course post more on that nearer opening time and hope to be one of the first to try it out. |

We are now into rainy season and in the last week or so have seen some fairly heavy rain in region, mixed in with some days of fairly fine weather. It has also in the last few weeks become much more humid and winter is feeling like a distant memory!
It's a cloudy start to the day in Yuzawa and about 26 degrees at the moment, though we have rain - perhaps heavy rain - due later on this afternoon and into the evening.
It looks like the next few days will see cloudy conditions with rain showers from time to time.
Later this month (30th July - 1st August), the Fuji Rock Festival will be taking place at Naeba . This year some of the headline acts include Muse, Roxy Music, Massive Attack, Them Crooked Vultures, MGMT with many other international and Japanese acts. |

This week we are enjoying some really lovely spring weather in Yuzawa. Since Monday we have seen a lot of sun, lots of blue sky with some spring clouds up there too. Temperatures have been comfortable too, with a high of around 22 degrees and a nice cool breeze.
It's cooler than perhaps we usually expect early June to be and it is not humid - lets hope that the hot and humid weather is a fair while off yet. Looking at the forecast we can perhaps expect similar conditions to continue for the next week or so. |

All resorts are now closed in Yuzawa.
This morning has started off bright and sunny. There is a fair amount of blue sky on view, with lots of friendly-looking clouds up there too and a comfortable temperature of around 18 degrees. It looks like we should see a fair amount of good weather conditions over the next week. Hopefully it won't get too hot too soon! |

It's officially the last day of the season up at Kagura and that means the last day of the what has been a long, long season here in Yuzawa.
It is a cloudy start to the day but brighter than it has been with the shining through at the moment. Temperatures remain unseasonably cool though and it won't get much warmer than 15 degrees today, and of course not as high as that up on the mountain.
This coming week clearer, sunnier weather is on the forecast along with slightly warmer conditions - though it doesn't look like the hot weather will be with us just yet.

We plan to post occasional weather updates to this Yuzawa Now page during the summer months and of course will be back with daily reports in the run up to next snow season.... look out for the first snowfall higher up on the mountains sometime in October.
