Fattwins 0
Toque how about these http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detai...D=1120787682482 I always make my own bibs.
mattlucas 0
Those are good if you are making your own bibs. They are light at almost 500 grams, cheap and 3 ply XCR gortex Seems like they come built with suspender loops as well I think the main thing with pants is the side zippers and the instep protection -Those pants have 3/4 length zippers. You could probably get them on and off without to much trouble. -They have the same instep protection as the other pants if not better because they are for climbing
Fattwins 0
cool I might be ordering some pants then. Im on a budget. Thanks for that toque.
mattlucas 0
Yah man those are really good pants and if you make a bib they will give you that much more protection from the snow. You getting a new jacket as well?
Fattwins 0
Still thinking man still thinking. What is the best deal in there that you can see on jackets?
mattlucas 0
The jackets are a little more money None of them have powder skirts that I can see so that is a bit of a draw back if you arn't getting the full bib But the best is the jacket I put above or the MEC Talisman Jacket Men\'s Both are $300 cdn or more
Fattwins 0
I dont wnat to carry my rain jacket into tateyama next year that is for sure. I might do the wash, dry, spary the carp outta my 3ply gortex jacket and see what happens.
soubriquet 0
I have an old but good quality GoreTex shell (Canadian, Mountain Equipment), but it ain't waterproof no more. I tried washing it and ironing it dry, but natch. Can Gore Tex be revived, or do I need to spray?
Fattwins 0
Mine isnt that bad, the problem was that we got so much rain one day that my jacket just gave up. I think you need to do the dry and spray and see how it goes.
mattlucas 0
I think the most important thing is getting it really clean in a washer and then using an electric front loading dryer to bring back to the waterproofness. After that iron it if you can. The most important part of owning gortex is keeping it clean. Once the pores get filled with gunk they stop working
mattlucas 0
I might pick up a cheap plastic rain jacket for Tateyama next year. Just for standing around in or fixing walls. Maybe even some cheap plastic pants if I can.
mattlucas 0
And now that I did that nobody will read the 99th post on how to best keep care of gortex
sunrise 0
I read it. I didn't realise it's safe to iron gortex (assuming you're careful, I guess), or that blow drying it brings back the water proofness.... How does it do that?

You can pull it over your head and poke it out along with your arms. That would keept the rain off of you without as much added weight as another jacket, maybe.
