muikabochi 208
Couldn't cope with that, I'm just not used to any waits at all!
Thundercat 60
Lineup at the gondola today. (photo taken off facebook. ) Oh my god I would not be cool with that! What a shame.
agillgren 13
Bus to the other side (maybe hanazono) would be the go. Probably empty there.
SnowJapan Admin SnowJapan#Andrew 6 Posted February 17, 2014 SnowJapan Admin Share Posted February 17, 2014 I haven't seen a queue like that since my first few years here 20+ years ago. How long does that take to clear from back to getting on the gondola?
muikabochi 208
On a weekday too! The snow must be outrageously good for people to be prepared to do that.

Go Native 70
It would almost be quicker to drive over to Rusutsu....
gvm3373 4
Don't spoil it. Let them remain in blissful misbelief that Niseko is the centre of the universe and their money is well spent.
gnarly-dude 1
Lineup at the gondola today. (photo taken off facebook. ) Nowhere is worth lineups like that. Not for me. I wonder if lots of those people think Japanese skijo are just like that.
Tubby Beaver 209
I've been in queues similar to that at Kagura, albeit for the rope way in the car park......the queue stretched all the way down to the car park entrance
gnarly-dude 1
Well, that's not for me either! Just think lining up like that is mad. Go somewhere else and walk onto lifts.
Go Native 70
I wonder if lots of those people think Japanese skijo are just like that. I doubt that they do. But you have to understand many people choose Niseko for reasons other than just the snow and skiing. I mean 10's of thousands of people for example spend a small fortune skiing in Australia each season. Proof that people go to ski resorts for reasons other than quality snow and skiing! Few other skijo in Japan offer the same accommodation options, restaurant options, apres ski entertainment options and services like Niseko. It's not like other Japanese skijo. That puts some people off but obviously as you can see by that queue it attracts plenty more. That said there's no way in the world I would get in that queue either. I'd prefer going for a snowshoe around Hangetsu-ko or something rather than spending huge amounts of time in queues like that.
grungy-gonads 54
Or perhaps as you so often say yourself, Go Native, lots of people are just stoopid.
SKI 15
Many don't know anything else and simply because that's what they are being sold and can't be bothered being adventurous.
Jerro 0
OK, you can count me out!
Go Native 70
Well that's true all the time whether we're talking about Niseko or not grungy. But as someone who was in reservations for almost 8 years in Niseko I, unlike most others on this site, have actual direct experience in dealing with the motivations of people coming to the resort. And I can assure you that for many the skiing side of things is almost a secondary consideration. Especially those from the SE Asian market.
muikabochi 208
Shouldn't they all be taking an onsen or buying souvenirs then, rather than all lining up for that gondola? I'd like to go to Niseko just to experience it. I think I'd like the scenery (if I got to see it!), I might very well like the snow, but probably not much else. Sounds like it would feel like shipping out to a different country!
kokodoko 67
lineups huge again today.
Go Native 70
Windy day with all top lifts closed....that's what happens unfortunately.
Nisoko 6
I think the crowds are going to start putting more people off. Especially if they hear that in most other places the lines are close to non-existant. Not everyone needs posh restaurants that you get similar to back home.
