norcal 5
Norcal... From ZY? Today the rate at the Lucky LTD type places was just under 76 I think. I transfer money from my credit card to my wife via paypal in Yen so, I get the international rate. I think it basically works out the same with the fees but I earn miles at the same time. Paying all my bills earns me a free roundtrip ticket to mainland every year. Yeah same SN on ZY too. 'Community' bank doesn't feel like changing the yen rate with the rest of the world, lol. On a mission to find an exchange off base.
gnarly-dude 1
I once tried to send American dollars to a British bank account... I was definitely the first person in the history of Shizuoka banking to try to do such a thing. It took an entire morning. Were the new bank any better?
Thundercat 60
Yep. A lot better. They even let me sign up for a credit card the day I joined their branch. It was the first bank I'd been into that didn't flat out refuse me for a CC because I was a foreigner.
big-will 7
Just sent some money back to Uk. still very strong yen How are the rates treating you, Japan visiting people?
Mick Rich 78
Yeah, I sent some home yesterday via JP bank and got just under 124Yen to the Pound! I'm sure it's not so good news for people coming here though.

Alexander L 80
Maybe you could take their pounds for a middle price. You get the currency and cash when the price is right.

Tubby Beaver 209
Maybe you could take their pounds for a middle price. You get the currency and cash when the price is right. for that, I would have to have at east SOME yen to give to them in return!
Alexander L 80
It'll save them on commission at least.
bottomless 0
Just sent back half a years savings last week and got a great rate. Can't be good for people visiting Japan though.
muikabochi 208
Wow the Snow Talk forum really moves quickly at the moment this was on the 3rd page! Anyway, I went to the post office today. Sending 1.6 million yen. Went at 11:55am. They gave me a quote. By the time all the usual kerfuffle had finished it was 12:15pm and they had to re-do it. I was mildly irritated by that until I found out that I got 12,000 yen back! So within a few minutes the rate had changed enough to give me a bonus of 12,000 yen. Not bad hey! RobBright 35
Yep, now 118yen to the pound / 98yen to the Euro / 76yen to the dollar. With that 12k Muika, you could go on a day trip to Gala from Tokyo.
big-will 7
It's done now so don't check tomorrow when it might be even better Bet you would have been none too pleased if the rate had gone the other way in those 5 minutes!

Mick Rich 78
I trust you're having a snowboarding stag weekend! Back on topic, I hadn't realised that the Pound had started creeping up again! I better start paying more attention given that I'm just about to start hitting my British credit card again!!
Jynxx 4
Back on topic, Does current exchange rate got anything to do with general snow topic ? Only thing that is in common is speculation lol. can´t dig this is going on for 9 pages.
Tubby Beaver 209
because I have a non-yen credit card, so purchases of snowboards (I've made 2 this year) are either cheap or expensive depending on the current exchange rate
fukdane 2
can't dig this is going on for 9 pages. Learn to 'dig' it. It is a very big issue for many people visiting Japan.
