gareth_oau 2
backcountry just needs to improve its delivery rates to Australia, they are very expensive compared to the competitors
mitchpee 10
There is a plan to go global so to speak. The issues really lie within the vendors themselves not us. They are the reason Burton, North Face, etc cannot be shipped internationally.
gareth_oau 2
i've got no problems with burton etc. i understand that Burton etchas international agency agreements in place which prevents backcountry from exporting. (I use a parcels forwarding for that) what bugs me is when I can buy , for example, exactly the same columbia jacket from backcountry or from Sierrtatradingpost, yet Backcountry quotes US80 for shipping and sierra does it for $45. Last year I bought 4 pairs of snowboots from Sierra in one consignment, and the postage was US$57, whereas backcountry wanted USD128
muikabochi 208
I suppose different places have different contracts with delivery companies. It annoys me when I get slapped with greatly varying delivery cost quotes too.
thursday 1
SteepnCheap would ship worldwide, so I got my friend to buy it and she brought it over on her trip.
RobBright 35
just dropped 10k on rakuten for some protective gear - one helmet and some hip/knee pads. Reduced by about 50% in the new year sale.
RobBright 35
Just dropped another 35k today on jacket, goggles (dog ate last pair), under armour, and a bag. Also some socks too. Everyone needs socks.
Tubby Beaver 209
yep I got socks as well....but mines cost 390 yen from Daiei!
grantj71 0
Anyone who starts adding up the costs of winter sports, shouldn't be doing winter sports.... Imagine on a 'No friends powder day' trying to decide if you should buy that extra lift ticket even though you MIGHT exceed your budget!!! When it snows, you just GO! RobBright 35
Anyone who does any sport, shouldn't be doing sports. We aren't complaining about how much we have spent, just saying how much we have spent.
HelperElfMissy 42
I don't want to think about how much we will spend in the pursuit of riding the white wave of joy this year. Stop reminding me!

gareth_oau 2
my last domestic snow trip (to Thredbo)for a family of 5 in August (eldest didn't come!) set me back A$25,000 or 2.1M yen at today's rates. since then, only bought 2 new jackets, so been quite thrifty!! roo 0
Have had to buy some new cloths for Japans conditions as I only own gear for Oz and New Zealand, mostly 5000-5000. All my new gear is 15000-15000 min. Spend around $2200AUD for two people. So all in all not too bad I think.
