Me too. Never quite understood why you'd want a phone for anything else...

There's so much going on with this thing that I need some time to get it to work as a normal phone with my contacts and web addresses. Sure is like learning to drive again.

can't seem to find the toaster function either.

fiddly. No stylus provided so not for fat fingers really.

The batteries suck. Goes after 1 day use. But that can't be helped given the stuff it does.

And if you have an unlimited data plan, turn OFF the wifi. That would save about 1/3 of the battery as it polls all the time.

Hows the phone iphone owners?

Quote:
The iPhone, the latest must-have gadget from Apple, fails to give users complete access to the internet, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) rules today.

It said the combined phone, music player and computer is flawed because of the absence of two common website programmes, Flash and Java. As a result, the authority said Apple's claim that the iPhone gave access to "all parts of the internet" misled customers about its power as a web browser.

Users of the iPhone cannot access the graphics, videos and games on many websites, including the BBC's, because of the absence of Flash. Java's absence deprives users from making use of website shortcuts, typically the copying of personal details on order forms.

I manage to make mine last more than 36 hours with moderate internet use, Ipod use and phone calls.

Also just had my SIM card die today which I managed to replace within 2 hours. Not sure if the Iphone killed it, it's never happened to me before.

have you actually had a fiddle with one? they are not as bad as you make them out. You wrote it off before it even came out.

I spent 30mins playing with one at Yodobashi Electrical shop yesterday I was impressed.

The maps/GPS feature is awesome. It's quick and uses Google maps with the same satellite/map/hybrid feature that the full internet Google maps has - its superior to the GPS/yahoo maps feature of docomo by far.

The youtube feature is sweet - more useful for entertainment than a one-seg TV function given the puerile rubbish on TV here - I would only ever use a TV feature to watch sumo.

I watched some ski porn youtube flicks and they were great to watch, fast loading.

The internet was easy to use, I could easily and quickly navigate this site on it.

The keyboard was small but usable and faster than the a standard keypad.

The stopwatch feature etc were well designed and easy to use, the calculator far easier to use that a normal phone.

The music player- well my current phones MP3 player, is in the stone age in comparison to an ipod. Have to use itunes to load music? there are bigger tragedies. I would still use winamp as my PC's default player.

It has bluetooth which Japanese phones are still mostly avoiding in favour of IR - can't figure that one out ( why Japan loves IR). It has no IR which is little nuisance as most Japanese phones rely on for getting new entries for your address book etc

There is no Keitai Osafu - I don't use that feature anyway so no biggie, I have a Pitapa card which does much the same thing.

Camera is ok for basic snaps, get a real camera if you want a real photo anyway.

No video recorder, that's probably the one feature I would I miss, getting spontaneous videos of the kids at the park etc.

No java or flash? I am sure there will be a hack made by someone on out there that makes flash and Javascript work - besides its still nice to navigate basic sites.

Softbank coverage does suck and especially in the mountains, bad for you in Nagano but not a problem for us living in the city. It's a city boys toy.

you are right, it does what your phone has done for years, and it does a lot of it better.

FWIW. I am not an Apple fan boy by any stretch, I have never had one and they give me hemorrhoids when I have to you other peoples Mac computers, but after playing with an iphone, I really liked what I saw.

The iPhone rocks, many of Apple's products rock. In this area they are miles ahead of Microsoft.

Yes Leopard has some issues due to being released a little early, however these issues are far from being on the scale of Vista issues AND the next release is going to be a bug fix/efficiency release, so many of these problems will go away.

For innovation and cool ideas they are second to none. However as a corporation they have got on the greed gravy train big time. They are doing lots of shitty things simply to print money. Just look at the shitty iPod cases scratching and the iPhone being attached to a single carrier. It's simply a bully extorting money. In this area Apple is catching up to Microsoft. It's a big shame.
