skidaisuki 0
"Already have it planned or is it a case of "depends on when the snow falls"." Usually do a couple of trips to the mountains in Autumn for hiking but obviously no point making firm plans until we know where will have proper skiiable snow. This is the start of my favourite seasons - the cooling weather, the appetite coming back, the dusting off and airing all the gear, tuning the skis and afternoons in Jimbocho looking for stuff I need and stuff that I don't. Only a month to go and we can seriously start looking at the forecasts. To answer your question - aiming for the first week of December somewhere high, if conditions allow... Karuizawa opens on Nov 4th, but is a 500 meter long, 5-meter wide stip of white slushie mix filled with wanna-be snowboard thugs trying to do ground tricks the whole way. not my idea of snowboarding.
