Place in Hakone, can't remember the name but it was expensive. Very nice too. Fantastic views overlooking lake. Usually I'm not keen on paying much for a place to sleep.

No-one's mentioned the reacting of the train / ferry / bus companies. They don't seem too chuffed at the idea of free expressways. Are the new boys planning on doing anything to please them or just tell them to live with it?
