  1. By the sounds of it, he would get first tracks at 11am. Unless Stinky sneaked out first of course.
  2. Very sad. My favorite tonkatsu restaurant near where I am has really gone downhill recently. Portions have got alarmingly small, I would guess so they keep the prices the same. Personally I would prefer them to put the price up and we get the same. And they have got really 'ketchi' about a few things like the amount of sesame seeds they give you to put in the sauce. Little things but when there's lots of little things. Been like this three times now and so I think it is time to find another favourite. Very disappointing though!
  3. Cheese fondue ok. Don't go expecting an authentic Swiss fondue, if indeed there is such a thing, and you will be ok.
  4. Is that a 3rd Tower I see in the center of this photo Looks weird those tall tower buildings stuck in the middle of the mountains.
  5. Will be interesting to see how that turns out perhaps a fuss over nothing. I'm thinking of getting one, will wait until the updated one comes out.
  6. I'm pretty sure it was meant to be like that. Not exactly sure on the kind of beer, but it tasted good.
  7. It was ok. Not a proper fondue, but tasted good all the same. Those onion rings were good too.
  8. Centleisure Maiko, Sun Feb 6th - gondola about 10 minutes - various lifts 0 minutes to 2 minutes Nothing major, some of the main courses were pretty congested.
  9. I was in the same area muikabochi at your recommended Maiko. I enjoyed it. Was very mild though, I was really surprised - had to take a few layers off! Lots of melt going on. Sounds strange saying this with all the snow piled up, but Niigata needs a fresh snow covering.
  10. "Tower of Beer" at Centleisure Maiko in Niigata
  11. Been in Yuzawa this weekend and today at Maiko and took a few pics. Been very warm and the snow was just average. Bit icy and scrapy this morning and getting heavier as the day moved on. Quite busy too, but I like this place it's good. I can see what other people were saying about all the untouched areas to the side. Would love to go back on a weekday after a fresh fall of snow. Fun was had. Here's a few snaps. Tons of untouched areas. Not soft and fluffy but fun all the same. This is on the 'town side' (abov
  12. I thought it would die without Simon but actually he was pretty bored with it last year and Tyler is funny.

  14. They mentioned on the news last night that this major cold front could well be "the last of the season". Shut up!!
  15. Thanks muikabochi, that helps. Gondola side it is, or at least I'll push for it!
  16. Awesome photos! I just posted a thread about the same place, if you see that please do check it out. My friends are planning to go here later this week and I'm hoping to go with them.
  17. Hi there haven't posted for a long time. Back in Japan now and looking forward to getting out on the snow very soon. Got a question about Maiko Kogen, or as it seems to be called now Centeleisure Maiko Snow Resort. It's in Niigata close to Yuzawa. Can someone explain to me the layout of the place. It seems that there are two main areas, the one with the gondola and the one on the right side (as you look at the mountain), but the gondola side looks bigger. Are they connected well and which is better? Cheers.
  18. That was my first season. I remember being stranded on the Kanetsu expressway back to Saitama. It was wild. Great pics of it all though.
  19. Didn't lots of resorts have troubles when there was too much snow. Somewhere in between, nearer "lots" would be best.
