  1. It hardly dumped gareth. Not in any way like what we are used to and expect. Up very high yes, and an improvement on the few cm here and there of late, yes, but down below ---- well, just look at the resorts snow depth data. Don't be misled.

  3. Without doubt, not as good as we expect. Warmer temperatures, less snow, less regular, bottom slopes struggling.... You need to go higher up to get the better snow which is not what you expect mid-season. Still, good snow to be found.
  4. You will need to get to Nagano (about 1 hour) and then to the Monkey Park (about 1 hour). It's like getting to Shiga Kogen minus 20 minutes because you don't climb the road up to Shiga Kogen (the monkey park is at the bottom of the mountain). Some places will organise a trip - ask your accommodation. If you are staying for a while, might be a chance to ski at SK or Nozawa as well - well worth it.
  5. Will be getting busier now with holidays and more people turning up. Now if only we could get more snow to allow more area to open.
  6. rainmaker, you really should change your name - perhaps snowmaker would be better?
  7. Don't worry, there's about 500 other places that are not (unless of course it's a totally peak time, when that number will be less).
  8. Oh ok. Yes, sir! I have skied 5 amount of days in Hakuba THIS season and the conditions are very early season on the resort slopes. Limited operations and basically waiting for snow to kick it off.
  9. Too early really. But snow is on it's way so hopefully it will soon not be too early.
  10. If I had to pick a month period would be the same - mid-Jan > mid-Feb but the season is so much longer than that.
  11. It's in Wadano. How old does he look like? Him conking out and going to bed early might not be what he wants. I don't know how strict the police are about that kind of thing here, but as skidaisuki said it is a good idea to avoid any police stuff!! Can't say I have heard of anyone being asked for ID though ever.
  12. Wow that sure is low. Hadn't been looking out of "not having enough cash to take advantage and send back" syndrome.
  13. Well, remembering what GN said about Niseko "biggest and most famous" don't mean it's well run. Some of them are owned by so many different people, or people who know not what they do (or should do), it's hardly surprising.
