  1. sammy tours have good deals. this is info for return bus tix from osaka to nozawa with lift tix included for 1-3 days. they also have buses going to heaps of other resorts too in nagano and gifu. good luck with the japanese.
  2. thanks for the great TR dizzy. pity you couldnt get more lines in but it must still beat sitting at home right.
  3. Thanks for the links and translation. It paints a clear scary picture. Glad the skiers could escape it.
  4. Wish I went there too! I ended up not going anywhere. Tateyama was looking to be the most expensive onsen ever so the plan was ditched at the last minute and no plan B Next time...
  5. they ummed and aahhed a little but we're still going. they called someone up there and they said there were people on the slopes today, forecast is for snow now so it must be whiteout, sounds crazy. can't really tell without actually going there how it will be but we'll err on the safe side. snowforecast.com forecasts look like the weather will improve so fingers crossed. tateyama doesnt seem the safest place at the best of times anyway.
  6. i dont think they'll cancel, i'll make sure we stay on the smaller slopes. pretty sure thats the plan anyway. friday looks like the only fine day at raicho valley according to snowforecast.com. im looking at the right place right?
  7. i can read it slowly. 3 j guys, they go each year, i'm interested to see what they say tomorrow. i thought it was warming up a little over the w/end with no snowfall. but that was probably a nearby town not the mountain forecast. thanks for the tip
  8. i'm being taken up there this weekend for the 1st time. hopefully ur prediction doesnt happen, its gonna be packed with people right. do you know a good website with details on tateyama conditions?
  9. the size depends on your height and weight. there are plenty of buying guides on the net, google it and u shall see
  10. guess its just a way of making extra money for the ski accessory companies then. cool thanks for that.
  11. do you guys clean the base much in a season. For example getting the wax remover out and putting a fresh coat on. Or do you just keep reapplying a top coat?
  12. the guy i know who won is japanese. he doesnt speak much english so not a poster on here. he's stoked!
  13. i told someone about snowloves lotto last month, and he thanked me the other day...the lucky bugga won one!!
  14. i think fixing delaminations would be expensive, might just be worth buying a new board instead. my board was dropped too and it caused a split. it sux. i just bog it up so water cant get in there, freeze and make it worse. sounds like your 10yr olds split is a bit big for that tho.
  15. i bought a daypack just before i got into BC. it was a good quality 'macpak' so i couldnt justify buying another one just for BC. i bought straps so i could clip my board or snowshoes & poles in easily. i've had no problems with it so far, it fits everything i need, shovel & probe and all that with extra room leftover. maybe its a cheaper option.
  16. that sounds like a pretty good deal for the people who own businesses in ski resorts. anyway to make an extra buck, cant blame em.
  17. 47 season pass is a 47 + goryu pass right? its not a bad deal as its quite cheaper then the happo one isnt it. if ur lucky you might be able to find someone with another resorts season pass and trade for a day or two. if ur staying at the same place for a month ur chances are pretty good.
  18. was a skateboard fanatic always 'studying' the videos and how the pros did it. saw a snowboarding vid, and was entranced by the huge airs and the speed that they could get. seemed a natural progression to me so i saved up and moved closer to some decent snow.
  19. if its just a daytrip you should go somewhere thats closer and easy to get to from tokyo. i think all resorts have beginners and advanced courses. Maybe not as many runs but if it was my first time to see snow i'd wanna spend as much time enjoying it rather then sitting in a train or bus.
  20. last year i think u could get 2 day happy 7 tix for hakuba for around 7500Yen, usually from the place you stay at. for 10 days that makes it around 37500 and u could go to any of the resorts in hakuba village. thats from my bad memory tho, so dont quote me and i dont know if theyre still doing that.
