Friend of mine suffering now and has been for a week or so. Early March!

I had to find a file from quite a few years back and had to dust off an old Gateway laptop I had. It looked antiquated! Anyway got the thing out and happily it could still turn on, though it took an age for the Windows 98 to appear and everything to settle down. My, I can't imagine having to wait so long now for something like that..... it took FOREVER to open files. Spent a day going through things but happily found what I needed. I know now to make complete proper backups of old machines. It was interesting to see some correspondence I had from back then. Some brought back som

I have one long lost friend (haven't met him for like 10 years) who insists on sending "joke emails" to a list of I think everyone he knows. No message, no personal words - just the often unfunny joke.

Is it just my bad luck, or am I doing something wrong, or are the toyu oil heaters that people use pretty flimsy and unreliable. I must have got through at least 4 in as many years - they don't break down completely just conk out on me with E4 or E9 messages. Usually when I'm the coldest. I've tried cleaning the things... doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Is there a prize on offer? Perhaps an all-Japan season ticket? If not, I think it's disgusting. I'm going to write to the newspaper.

I was wondering - do the ISPs here in Japan give us a bandwidth limit for downloading? I have never heard any numbers and while I don't do a huge amount myself compared to some people, I do chew up a fair bit.
