  1. I've been in one or two onsens were there have been yakuza soaking in them, people don't seem too bothered despite the fact they are covered in tats. Actually I had a good conversation with one of them once, although the locals didn't appear to want to talk to him, lol!

  3. Lol! Actually yeah the UK summers suck that's for sure, but I think recently they are getting colder and wetter, at least when I used to live in England we would get a few weeks of good weather in total, now it seems it's a few days in total. 4. No of course I am not sure, but then neither are the scientists either, like I said in my post, but I don't believe the earth will continue to warm. Like I said that is my observation only, like I also said I have no scientific evidence to back this up, only my observations. But put it this way throughout history the earth has had cooling and heating periods with the last mini ice age around 400 years ago or so I believe. And for any who are into this topic, may also know that the sun effects the earths temperature on earth and the weather conditions more than anything else, the sun controls
  5. That is a tough one mate, I think you definately need to hand this situation over to the principal or someone authorized and familiar with dealing with such a situation. Don't try sorting this out by yourself that is not your job responsibility, it is the schools responsibility. Good luck with everything, I hope you get the situation resolved asap!
  6. Yeah if you got a hotel booked, best just 'takubin' your stuff to the hotel like TB said. I think you are looking at less than 10,000 yen for the lot, save lugging it around.
  7. The price depends on the page, a page with more graphics will cost more, because a packet is a block of info, and the price is calculated by the amount of info each packet contains. Best to ask your phone provider, they can give you figures, but even then it will be vague. Basically text only pages will be much cheaper than pages heavyly loaded with graphics. If you plan on using your keitei internet a lot then you are better off to get what is called 'sukai houdai', which is unlimited use. I have that on my phone, I think I pay about 3500yen/month and I can be on the net all day ev

People are getting excited, we don't want the pessimism. We'd all be happier being lied to for sure. Please update your forecast and tell us all how great the season is gonna be. 9. Actually I haven't commented here yet, but all this talk about global warming, I don't believe it is happening, rather I think the earth is starting a cooling trend and within a few years at most will go into an ice age again. The earth is on its cooling down cycle now, I think, like it has done before, throughout history earth has had cooling periods and warming periods, and for the past two years temperatures have actually been colder not hotter. The sun not just the atmosphere effects the earths temperature, as does the angle and trajectory of the rotation of the earth too, as this

  11. I use annoymizer, but only sometimes as it does tend to slow down the browser, I normally use it when browsing or using chat software, otherwise I don't bother as my internet connection anyway runs through a stealth system, which makes my computer invisible on the net anyway but annoymiser is very good, as it disguises your real IP!
  12. Myoko yesterday! For some reason can't get the pick to show here so here is the link www.snowjapan.com/e/insider/show_photo.php?photoId=9835
  13. As I drove up the Joshin etsu expressway yesterday on my way to Niigata, I saw Myoko had a lovely white cap!

One thing I can say to some less experienced readers is that even a bad season in Japan has many days and weeks of excellent snow at most resorts, and for the majority of us who have to live a "normal" life during the winter - i.e. work in the city, not as a backcountry guide - most of the good days are simply daydreamed about any

Doubt it back then most had a good idea how to tell what the weather would be like, so no money in it! True nature does play tricks with
  16. For those wondering where I get my predictions from, nature of course. If you can read natures signs and interpret them accurately then you can tell what the weather is going to be like, many many times more accurate then any computer will ever be. How do you think farmers predicted the weather years ago? My grandfather always knew how the seasons weather was going to be and even day to day weather, he was right 90+ percent of the time, which is were I learned it from. I don't think I have my grandfathers accuracy yet, but I am getting there, I still bet I can get the weather prediction

  18. A gaijin house to me is exactly as deeplymad said tons of gaijin, with shared kitchen, shared living room, shared bath etc, but with own room. A Japanese ryokan while of course a lot do have communial toilets, and lack toilets in the rooms, rooms are private, are usually always quiet and no need to cook and fight your way to the kitchen to be first to use the facilities, and no gaijins! The baths are of course comunial in the ryokans, but tend to be of the onsen style, which I am happy to use anyway, and often you can get a family bath, which is even better. As for when I go ski
  19. I think for me it has to be a decent bed and pillows not these dreadful skinny matresses and broken brick filled pillows that you get at all the Japanese Ryokans. Having said that I like tradional style Japanese hotels a lot and have stayed at some very nice places, I just can't stand the dreadful bits of short thinly filled pieces of material that they call futons. I usually bring my own feather pillows as I usually always use my car, and stack about 4 matresses on top of each other to make a bed that is then sleepable. An onsen is a must too! So is queitness and privacy, so
  20. Well as promised here is this winters forecast from me, although I may adjust it again in a couple of weeks or so if nature decides to tell me otherwise. I think we are in for a not so cold, and short winter, with maybe one or two cold snaps but nothing long lasting. Looking at all the signs so far compared to other years at this time we are not going to have an epic winter, at least not in Kanto, chubu areas. I think we will probably see a cold late December and cold January, with February providing a few very cold days and thats about it! I will be off to Niigata this weekend to
  21. I think I mentioned if you got Norton 360 it has defrag built into it, just run it and it will soon sort your drive out. In general though if you do a regular defrag, ie at once or twice a month for moderate use or maybe once a week or so if you do heavy computing and constantly moving files, then it should only take a very short time no matter which defrag you use. In general if your drive is less than 25% defraged you not likely to notice much difference in speed after defrag, anymore than you will notice it. If it still runs slow after defrag, it more likely that your registr
  22. If your comp seems slow even after defrag, try claening the registry as this is one of the biggest culprits of slow computers. A program I use once in a while to keep everything sweet and in order is PC Pitstop optimize 2, you have to buy it but well worth it. It works by scanning all the files on your computer anaylsing them and then tells you what problems there are if any, and give you the chance to decided whether or not you want any adjustments made before it starts. It will also optimize your internet settings, clean out rubbish files, internet browsing history too if you so wis
