  1. Heloo people, Starting to get rather excited about my first trip to Japan for a two resort trip. First week is Niseko 25th-30th Jan and then hakuba (2nd-7th Feb). We will be a couple of intermediate boarders (i.e. anywhere on piste is ok, Love the deep powder but not a park bunny). Anyone who is in the area over those dates and doesnt mind someone following them around to get an idea of the place would be great! Cheers Patrick
  2. Aaagh, you are beating me by a day! I arrive (for my first time in Japan) on 24th. Meeting a mate there who works in Beijing and we are off to Niseko for 6 days then back for a weekend in Tokyo before heading off for 6 days in Hakuba. I am as excited as a dog with two whatsits!
  3. Hi all - long time boarder and up until recently a glasses / contact wearer. Recently had the Lasik done (3 weeks ago) and it is fantastic. 2 minutes for each eye. Not really panful but definitely a weird feeling. Not sure what i am looking forward to most... my first ever trip to Japan or my first boarding trip without glasses & contacts! (Probably both!)
  4. Thanks Mamabear! 1000 yen is now pretty steep fo us UK based urchins! to clarify, i will be looking for some "guiding" for one or two half day sessions on a hunt for the best pwder in the area. We only have 6 days in Niseko before heading off for the same in Hakuba so need to make the best of the time we are there.
  5. d-spin, i am also heading over to Niseko at the end of Jan and would be looking for some guiding. I will drop you a pm. many thanks
  6. I am also heading out there for the first time this winter - a week each in Niseko and Hakuba! 71 days and counting..... cant wait!
  7. Is this really the case? I am arriving with a friend in January for 6 days in Niseko and then 6 days in Hakuba but we will be transferring straight to Niseko the same evening with a view to getting on the slopes early the next day (due to limited time). if i Takkyuba at lunchtime on a saturday what chances it will be in Niseko early sunday morning? is there an excess payment option on flights? cheers p.s. - Niseko Instructor - where did you book your flights?
  8. Thanks for all the feedback guys. After discussions with my pal it looks like Niseko had got the nod. Any reccomendations on chap / medium priced accommodation? (I assume Grand Hirafu is the best place to be based?) cheers again!

  10. cheers again. Looking like Furono is close to getting the nod! Although after a couple of dodgy seasons in europe anywhere will be awesome!
  11. Thanks guys. So, flying to Hokkaido sounds like the way to go with packaging the boards off separately. Need to do some research on which resort on Hokaido. Obviously the snow is the main reason we are going and the priority, but a few couple of lively places in the evenings would also be great. Dont fancy a major cummute each day to the slopes. any more suggestions / reccomendations gatefully received! Cheers
  12. Hi there, First post on this forum, so hello all! I am in the process of sorting out my first trip to Japan with a pal for a boarding trip for 15 days at the end of January / Beginning of Feb 09. The plan is arrive Tokyo, and then head up to Hokaido for around 6 nights then back to Tokyo for a weekend before heading out to Hakuba (accommodation booked already) for another 6 days boarding. as background we are intermediate boarders, not into parks (too old for all that stuff ) but love powder and enjoy all mountain messing around.
